Gives a great perspective if the history of the Longmire Springs area and Mount Rainier NP itself. Well staffed by informative NPS Rangers. Lots of good and informative exhibits - good for history lovers and families. Plan to spend some time - and if it's crowded. - come back later.

Mount Rainier National Park

Reviewed By Hashl - Estherville, Iowa

I've seen a lot of Mountains but there is something about Mount Rainier standing by itself towering over the land that is so unique and cool. The park was beautiful with water falls, trails and mountain views everywhere. It was absolutely spectacular to see the giant trees and take some beautiful hikes.

Incredible spot to visit and no admission charge but they do ask for donations.. It is just outside Mt. Rainier and you should definitely take the time to visit. The Sculptures are beautiful and so clever. It is amazing to walk around among the Sculptures. Make sure you take the time to look at each one to see what was used to put them together. The horses are beautiful.

Ashford Creek Pottery

Reviewed By arcodon - Willows, Ca

We walked into town from our rental for some exercise and I was attracted by the simple, yet attractive, storefront, so we stopped. I introduced myself, as did Rick, and we pleasantly chatted. Rick responded knowledgeably to all my questions, elaborating about the who, what, and where, of both the items forsale, and free public gallery he built upstairs. I have limited art appreciation experience, but I enjoy nice hand made pottery, and bought 3 Skillfire pieces, two I will use for sashimi plates, and one beautiful vase. Unlike another reviewer, I thought the prices very reasonable, and the items stunning. I will say my art appreciation skills were enhanced by Rick, through his descriptions of all the pieces.
I know Rick and his wife are in it for love, rather than money, because there isn't enough foot traffic to generate adequate revenue. Whether you buy anything or not, stop in and enjoy the gallery.

In preparation for my Mt. Rainier summit, I twisted my ankle pretty severely climbing Mt. Whitney in the California Sierras. There was A LOT of pain in my foot. The pain was so bad that I was convinced that I probably wouldn’t be able to summit Mt. Rainier. I showed up just to try to bare through the pain and make it to Camp Muir. By pure dumb luck, I found out about Jillene and her Physical Therapy practice in Ashford on the RMI property. WHAT A GOD SEND!!! She worked w/ me for two hours over two days to get my foot in hiking shape. I’m not sure if it was black magic or just pure skill but by the time my climb started, I wasn’t feeling the pain in my foot. I fully endorse and recommend Mountain Time Wellness to ANYONE who needs to get their body in a condition to hike Rainier. I went from hoping to make Camp Muir to summiting Rainier. Thank you Jillene! You helped me at the last minute make my climb a success from a stupid injury.
