Les Kayaks des Ilets du Francois

What a day! We turned up without a reservation but Magali was very accommodating, lending us some snorkelling equipment and even providing drinking water to take with us at no extra cost. After a short but very clear briefing, we set off for what ended up being one of the most memorable experiences in Martinique. The rowing to the little islands was tough at times due to the current but once we landed on Islet Thierry all the struggles were forgotten. The midday party in the middle of the sea with some Ti Punch and homemade vegetarian accras (which were delicious!) was the highlight of the trip... that is until we got to Islet Oscar where Magali kindly arranged for us to have a wonderful meal with drinks and dancing, all for €10 per head. After some bathing, snorkelling and exploring we headed back, were shown a shower and had a great chat with Magali and Hervé. Such wonderful warm people and so passionate about their business and about Martinique. I can't recommend them enough. Merci beaucoup, Magali et Hervé! P.S. Do use higher factor suncream and reapply regularly. We managed to get burned even with the suncream.

Great national park at the end of the road in Ste Anne Martinique. After the parking area, you need to cross a bridge over an estuary with slippery rocks at each end. The well blazed trail takes you along a rugged coast line with cactus plants. I didn't see any pieces of petrified wood along the trail but the information board had pictures of some. Access to the park is free

This is a one-way hike. You can either start from the valley (up from Anse Artelet / petit anse beach) or in the town by the beach. We started in the valley and it is around 1hour to the top. We went back down the way we came. You need to be in decent shape as the climp requires some scrambling on your butt / using hands to climb up some boulders. You can also hike down to Le Diamant town but then would need to go all the way back you came, so that is probably a 4 hour round trip. It was raining on / off when we went and a bit slippery but nothing too bad. We were in late 20s. If you are older or in less good shape would not reccomend if rainy / slippery
