What to do and see in Arrecife, Canary Islands: The Best Budget-friendly Things to do

March 21, 2022 Fernanda Pittenger

Arrecife (/ˌærəˈsiːfeɪ/; Spanish pronunciation: [areˈsife]) is a city and municipality in the Canary Islands (Spain) situated in the centre-east of the island of Lanzarote, of which it has been the capital since 1852. The city owes its name to the rock reef ('Arrecife' is Spanish for 'reef') which covers the beach located in the city. The city also gives its name to the nearby Arrecife Airport.

Escape Room Lanzarote

Reviewed By Joandande - Billericay, United Kingdom

Here for Christmas with the family and decided to try out the Escape Room in Arrecife. We chose Dead Land as our challenge. The hosts were lovely, welcoming and friendly, and we had lots of laughs (and a couple of family squabbles!) along the way, and with a little help from the organisers we managed to successfully escape. This is suitable for all ages, and highly recommended if you fancy something different or want to while away a cloudy afternoon. We’d love to go back and try the other challenges when we’re back in Lanzarote.

An excellent spot to sit in one of the many little bars and restaurants listening to the spanish music and watching the boats floating on the water. Try and catch it when the sun is low in the sky and the golden ripples are almost hypnotic (when you've had a beer or three). Lovely place to sit and relax.

Museo Aeronautico del Aeropuerto de Lanzarote

This is such a brilliant little museum, run by volunteers. It is housed in the original airport building and it is fascinating to see how things have changed in what is a relatively short period of time. A great deal of thought and effort has been put into setting up the museum and it's brilliant. You can see the air traffic control part, the cafe area as well as examples of the uniforms worn by the airline staff. There is a good book collection and some excellent posters as well as a very thought-provoking cabinet showing the kinds of items that were confiscated. When we visited there was also an excellent display of aircraft and airport related models, all made from recycled plastic. There were some excellent little booklets available too, aimed at children. It's a wonderful little museum.

Rent Bike - Escursion turistic of Lanzarote

Reviewed By Attews - Swansea, United Kingdom

My wife and I rented two bikes from Goldy Rent during our stay in Arrecife. At only €5 each for half a day, the bikes appeared nearly new and were very good quality. We spent 3 1/2 hours cycling around the area and covered 14 km along the coast. We found the journey along to Costa Teguise uneven and quite narrow and hilly in parts so part way along, we turned back and headed in the direction of the airport. We are so glad we did as the ride along the coast in this direction in flat, with plenty of room and is extremely pretty, passing Playa Honda (which appeared really nice) as we cycled as far as the airport. All in all, a lovely way to take in the scenery and great value.

Playa Guacimeta

Reviewed By S8572XWjacquelineb - Chesterfield, United Kingdom

Lovely beach area, clean wide promenade, stretching long way both directions along seafront, beautiful villas alongside, lots of nice cafe/bars/restaurants, and nice surprise, public loos!!! Not many of these around. Plenty of seats along the prom. I only walked from Playa Honda, then up to the main road opposite Superdinos, couldn't cross the main dual carriage way, so wandered back down again, a 1k walk each way, 2k is enough for me, but it was a beautiful day, warm and sunny, quite a fair wind so lovely white breakers on a deep blue sea. Ended up back at Playa Honda bay, into Goliaths for a fresh long drink of iced orange juice, lovely staff, great stuff.
