The Saint-Donat church of Arlon is situated on the « Knippchen », this is the name of the central « Hill » where the church is built on and in the history was occupied by the « Gallo-Romans ». The church was built by the “Capuchins » in the year 1626 and restored in the year 1851, and once again in the 19th century. On the moment of our visit we were not able to see the church on the inside, this due to the restauration works. But anyhow you have some nice views around the church also.

Came here end of Nov 2015 and it was raining all the way from Warsberg to Messancy. A car is a definite boon for any tourist shopper. We were clearly the only Asian tourists in about 500km vicinity. Great bargains here and despite most of them were speaking French, they were not shy to speak English (my wife spoke French though but yeah).
Too bad it was raining from the time we arrived until the time we left. The place is well covered (save for the carpark) but didn't get to enjoy other things except for shopping.
:)
Unlike the reviews here, we thought our trip here was pleasant but dont come here if you've visited the designer outlet in zweibrucken. that one is far superior.

We had the whole place to ourselves due to the weather. We had a great time. All the activities were well placed and planned and gave everyone a wide range of options and routes. Even if you are scared of heights, there is still something for you. It is in a small area so don't expect any of the really long rope rides of some other locations. The team of staff were excellent. Very patient and experienced.

This impressive church into the city of Arlon has been classified as an exceptional part of the cultural heritage of Wallonia, this mostly due to its dimensions who are dominating the landscape of Arlon, especially when you know that the tower is 97 m high. It is a collegial church, who is one of the most remarkable Neo-Gothic buildings in the country. In the interior, you will notice the glass windows, and the great organs.

the vestiges found in Arlon's ground as well as in its antique Cemeteries are proof for a rich culture of a huge diversity for more than 2000 years.
The museum offers the only scuplture of a " moissonneuse des Trévires", the first industrial tool to collect corn.

Gaspar Museum

Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary Exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. This beautiful house was a bank at the origin. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary Exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.
