The Surf Wala surf school was established on Arambol Beach, North Goa, in 2010 with a simple desire in mind; to share our passion for Surfing with anyone, locals and visitors alike, who might wish to join the growing community of surfers here. Our little tribe of board riders has steadily increased as news has spread that it is, in fact, possible to surf in Goa. Surf Wala exists in order to continue to encourage that message, to provide surf board hire, surf lessons, equipment and advice to anyone who feels enticed to begin Surfing in Goa, and most of all to provide a base for these people to come together. We believe that the special union a person develops with the ocean when they surf lays the foundation for a holistic manner of living which encourages physical and spiritual well-being, increased environmental and social awareness, as well as a pure primal joy in feeling the rush of riding a wave. It is this experience which draws us back day after day. “To learn patience, to feel awe, and to know exhilaration in the element of which we are all largely composed is a repeatedly enthralling experience we think everybody should have the opportunity to try.”

We stayed here 3 nights
Rooms are simple but the wibe is great
Nice place for young people great energies and friendly staff
Yono the owner is a wonderful and helpful young man
His helpers Swetta and Ema smiling and charming
Don't expect luxury but it's a great place to stay
Breakfast we ate at the Surf club next door
Good meals clean and tasty

Awful beach. Really too far away. Too quiet. Not enough children. No dance music. Too many places to sit in the shade. Waves too loud. People too chill. Sea too clean. Not enough people. Waiters too nice, obviously plotting something.
Don't waste your time coming to this beach. Stay away.

This beach is one of the best in North Goa, less crowded that others and hence more cleanliness and clear water! Nice place to sun bathe and have a good beach side picnic.

A really nice, but short trek up to the top of the hill. There are people paragliding from the top of the hill, so just follow them up, they'll show you the route. It may get a little steep or slippery, so carry footwear with good grip. If you're going at sunset, you'll most likely have to come down when it's a little dark. So be sure to carry a torch with you.

I originally studied at HIYC in Dharamkot in June 2017 for the beginners course with Beata/Shivani, Leona and Mihir, then for a second week of the continuing students with Leona again.
I just arrived in Arambol this week and saw that Sharat was taking the continuing students class so I knew I had to go as I had never had the chance to experience his teachings and knowledge. I must say that I am so happy I did. Sharat's take on Iyengar Yoga is extremely rejuvenating, focussing on finding proper balance and ground using the feet, which effects the way we carry our entire body. The use of various props throughout class are catered to each individuals personal needs. This course is great for teaching you the proper techniques that you are able to take with you for your personal practice. Sharat has a unique sense of humour and tons of knowledge which he brings to each class. He was always making me giggle throughout class. I've decided to take the 5-day course again this week as Sharat will also be instructing and I really value his expertise, sense of humour and energy.
This centre itself is tucked away off the main road. It is quite peaceful with shade provided by tall coconut trees. There is filtered water available and also bamboo huts that can be rented. Current students also have access to the yoga halls at set times for personal practice outside of class.
All in all, I enjoy all the teachers that I have had the privilege to study with. They each bring their own unique way of presenting Sharat's style of Iyengar Yoga. I look forward to my next week and future visit to this centre as well as the other in Dharamkot.

Have been visiting Arambol beach almost every year for so many years, but never visited the Sweet Water Lake... But, when visited this time, it made me to think about what I missed in these years...
To describe, it's a beautiful place.... You need to travel through the small shopping lanes accross the Main Arambol Beach, which is again a beautiful experience in itself. After you reach to the "Khalcha Beach" you have to make your way through rocky path and you land on to again a beautiful & secluded beach. Just, backside towards mountain you can locate a small and beautiful body of water known as "Sweet Water Lake"... I guess, the lake has its water source within lake itself apart from the mountain water flowing to the lake; there onwards the lake water gets submerged with the sea body...
You can enjoy swimming in sea and lake here... The scenery around is so good and refreshing as one side you are at the bottom of mountain and other side - sea...
You can enjoy, the drinks and food at few shacks located accross the beach...
To summarize, it's a beautiful and must visit place if you happen to visit Arambol....

Seeing Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church alive and up close (NOT just from the road) is an absolute must in my opinion. Of course the view from the road is stunning in and of itself. What a blessed place it is. Please don't miss visiting.
