We spent time at the different Cemeteries devoted to the WWII dead... the British cemetery here, the US cemetery at Nettuno, the Polish cemetery at Cassino. Each has its own style. Here it is much more personal, with notations on many monuments and little personalized Gardens. A moving experience, fitting memorial to the WWII dead.

A Site of European Importance, the park shows you what the coastline looked like before the lido and the Beaches were developed. Beautiful place with several different habitats: the coastal dunes, a coastal forest of Mediterranean evergreens and oaks that covered the entire Lazio coast in the past, streams & wetlands with their different sorts of vegetation, and an ancient sulphur mining site. A remarkable and rare landscape with many different sorts of birds and animals.

Our B&B with harbor views seemed nice in the pictures but we could hardly sleep at night due to the large amount of teen agers loitering on the harbor square till late drinking and shouting profanities. It's strange that such a upscale resort such as Anzio allows such behavior. We will definitely not stay here again. It was an unpleasant and unnecessary inconvenience.

We had the best lunch at this little beach cafe, so fresh and delicious. I think it's Anzio's best kept secret because it's frequented by locals and Italian's on holiday, without the usual tourist mad rush. It's a lovely little cafe with great service and a private beach. Both are very clean and right on the beach which is a great place to relax after you've gorged yourself! Hint, try the spaghetti with vongole (little clams), it is so worth it!! But the best thing is that they speak English, this is not so common for Italian establishments I've found. Yes there are lots of stairs to get down and up again, but the trip is well worth it!!!

looking for another beach, I stumbled upon this little gem that it is nestled between the hills of anzio and the Mediterranean, and is a very nice place to relax…
The water quality is excellent, the beach is well-kept and the restaurant looks delicious…
it is easy to reach from Rome by public transportation, so a well worth alternative to the overcrowded ostia Beaches.
however, come early because if you're going to look for a sunbed and then umbrella they are all gone by midday… Don't be fooled if you see a lot of empty chairs on the beach those are all reserved and will fill up…

If you are in Anzio, please visit this church. It is really nice. Paintings and sculptures are not very famous, but overall impression was really good. It would be nice to burn candles instead of just turn the lamp if you make donation
