What to do and see in Antananarivo, Antananarivo Province: The Best Multi-day Tours

November 26, 2021 Emerita Lamoureux

Built on a narrow, rocky ridge, Antananarivo occupies a strategic point at the center of the island of Madagascar. Two forts watch over the city from the east and southwest, while within the city limits lay royal palaces, embassies, some fifty churches and a mosque. The city's most distinguishing feature may be the burnt out remains of the Rova, or Queen's Palace, situated on a prominent hill. Its steep alleys and stairways make Antananarivo a challenging but rewarding city to explore on foot.

Madagascar is known for his unique wildlife. Most of people are thinking that 02 days is too short to see wildlife. It's not true. This tour is designed to see several animal species around Antananarivo. Animals are not in a cage except in Perieyras reserve where the reptiles are in good condition. You can hear the loud yelling of the biggest lemurs of Madagascar called Indri-Indri or Babakoto and the ringtailed lemurs at lemurs park for sure. This is a suitable tour for weekend or 02 free days in Madagascar.

I booked a solo trip with Tony, we did a sort of on the fly trip, with a very rough itinerary that we could change on route if we pleased. It went great Tony was very flexible and was able to solve issues quickly to keep everything going smoothly! I just noticed someone give Tony a bad review saying that he smoked, drank alot, and wanted extra money. I never experience any of that, Tony was very respectful and whenever I wanted coffee and fruit, he paid for it and never asked for any extra money. I even did extra activities on top of the planned itinerary and he was able to set it up no problem. If I ever go back to Madagascar it will be with my bro Tony.

I was enjoying the Malagazy national home-cooked food but also to see their homes from within. Back to Morondava we saw the Sacred Baobab, Baobabs in love. Before sunset, we reached the Baobab Alley. And the magical moment of sunset between the baobabs. This view must be seen.It charms you. In June of this year my husband and I had the pleasure of traveling with MUDT on a 7 day trip from Tana to Camp Bandro, and then on to Palmerium and back to Tana. This was an amazing trip, and I will write detailed reviews of both locations in the near future. On this, our fifth trip to Madagascar, MUDT arranged everything and we could not have been happier with our interactions with Michel Andry, co-owner of the company. Michel had guided us in Madagascar on our previous trips, and we had always been pleased with his professionalism, his passion for giving the client the best possible trip, and his knowledge of Madagascar and ability to match clients to their preferred experience. He is a great guide, and performed as such on this trip. As an agent, he also exhibited the best qualities - he was prompt and clear in responding to emails and was willing to juggle the itinerary to fit our needs. He was also honest with us and willing to speak up and tell us when something we requested would not work based on weather, time constraints, distance or whatever; this is important in a place where politeness sometimes dictates a “yes” when reality is clearly saying “no”. Because he pays attention to the travel style, tolerances, and passions of his clients, he was able to add a few unusual activities (looking for frogs and snakes near Camp Bandro, for example) that he knew would be if interest to us. The vehicle and driver (Rolland) provided were excellent. From planning stage to the end of the trip, we felt confident that when things didn’t happen as planned (a somewhat usual occurrence in Madagascar) he would be able to handle the situation. We found MUDT’s prices to be competitive. We had an outstanding experience with MUDT and highly recommend them.
