Mounds State Park

Mounds State Park, located off I-69 east of Anderson, features 10 unique earthworks built by prehistoric Indians known as the Adena-Hopewell people. The largest earthwork, the Great Mound, is believed to have been constructed around 160 B.C. Archaeological surveys indicate the mounds were used as gathering places for religious ceremonies, from where astronomical alignments could be viewed. Be sure to visit our Nature Center, which includes a wildlife viewing room, animal displays, interactive games and more. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm daily. Naturalist-led hikes and interpretive programs are offered every weekend throughout the year.

We came here for a weekend in august to camp and to swim. We were so disappointed that the pool closed for the summer on august 1st. Not even open on the weekend. Gate attendant was rude and could not answer any of our questions.

Canoe Country

Reviewed By fishhead101 - Muncie, Indiana

I took my family out for a nice canoe paddle down White River(ages 40-10) At Canoe Country you pay for the hours on the river with the canoe. They drop you off upstream with your canoe and allow you and your family to paddle back to the facility where your car is parked. Depending on how long you wanted your trip to be, is how far away they dropped you off to paddle back. they ranged from2, 5, 7 10+ mile trips -price ranging from $30-$36. I think some trips will allow you to go past the facility and they will pick you up downstream at the correct location for the longer trips. We had a blast !! Great time to float along the river and challenge a few 8" deep rapids..haha The facility was clean and very professional. the workers answered any questions we had and gave us some pointers on some areas to watch out for. We attempted to go to another canoe rental place nearby, but they had a very small amount of rentals and nothing for us. Canoe Country was loaded up when we left at 1PM, but they still had 3 trailers full of canoes standing by and there were 30+ cars in parking lot. A Very Satisfied Customer.!!

This is one of my favorite day trips from Indy, and you will LOVE the small waterfalls surrounded by natural limestone's to wade in with the family. Its a wonderful place to fish and take family pictures. There is a small museum open on the weekends, and lots of places to have a picnic.

After reading other reviews we decided to visit this location. We were impressed by the neat and clean appearance. We didn't have room for ice cream this time, but did pick up some delicious chocolate treats at prices that are not unreasonable. They have a nice variety of candies, including some specialty items that you won't find just anywhere.

Hoosier Park

I’m convinced the machines are turned back and set to “take all her money” on weekends when the place is packed. LOL We tend to have better luck through the week. But besides the gambling, it’s fun to people watch. Lots of new machines. Free pop stations. Don’t see too many people ever getting hand paid and we typically stay in high limits. Bathrooms are clean. Atmosphere is fun. Security is always present. Plus the free shuttle service to the hotels is nice! We have been coming here for years. Not my favorite casino to visit but it is in my top 5. The casino cash they send you in the mail is a joke. I will go thorough $2000 and they will send me a coupon for $25. I prefer to give my money to the casinos that’s going to at least feed me and put me up in a hotel. But I do enjoy the casino. I like being able to have a drink and not worry about driving. I never participate in the horse racing but it must be pretty exciting... People are always screaming with excitement. I prefer a slot machine that offers free games or something like wheel of fortune. Hope this helps. I’m sure you’ll have fun. You just need to know when to stop. If you have a limit, quit there. Don’t take your debit card with you. Don’t tempt yourself. Here are a few hits I had last night. They are all times $5 so the first one was $450. Etc. Have fun!

Reviewed By Josh B

This is a very unique haunted house. There are 5 different locations that you are able to go through for an unlimited amount of times. There's also a main area where there is food and an area to hang out/dance/buy food/take pics with characters. The only negative about Indy scream park is the prices of food/drinks. They are grossly overpriced.

McClain's Historical Military Armor Museum

Reviewed By Koulou - Washington DC, District of Columbia

I heard about this museum by chance, and stopped over on my way to a military modeling show in Auburn Indiana, I was glad I did!

The owner was there, very friendly guy extremely knowledgeable about the exhibits.

The exhibits are mostly post WW2 US equipment, but there is also a postwar Soviet anti-aircraft gun, postwar BTR-40 armored car and a couple of postwar West German military cars (VW and Auto Union Munga). As for WW2 there are Jeeps, trucks, half-track. Too many vehicles to list. Highlights for me were a M60A2 with dozer and a ultra rare Sheridan bridgelayer.

I spent over an hour at the place taking many photographs.

Entrance is free but a donation is appreciated. Only opened Wednesday to Friday from 1PM to 4PM.

It's a very large building (old warehouse/factory?)
