This trail allows for both calm reflection and a great work out with stairs, flat trails and places to stop and catch your breath. The Waterfalls is beautiful and a real treat after the walk in. There were birds gently singing through our walk. We did find many visitors with their dogs off their leashes which we didn't mind and the dogs were definitely enjoying their adventure in the woods.

Griffin Falls is a gem. The problem for people wanting to see this spot, is that if you rely on directions from the internet you may never get there. One set of directions, repeated quite often, is that the Falls "are behind Griffin House" which is as useful as saying that Germansweek is in South West England (which it is, but that instruction won't tell you where to find it). Another direction tells you to follow the Homestead trail from the parking lot. Indeed, this is the trail too follow, but it does not lead from the parking lot. A week or two ago I asked at the Conservation office where the falls were and no-one knew. I also asked a hiker who allowed as to how he had "walked this trail a hundred times" and didn't know the falls existed. This lack of knowledge might well be a contributing factor to their serenity.
Consequently, I have decided to give detailed directions as follows:
Once you get to the parking lot at the Hamilton Conservation area on Sulphur Springs road, take the Hermitage trail which leads out of the parking lot in the right hand corner as you stand and face the machine that issues visitors' tickets. Follow this trail for two or three minutes until you see, on the left, a sign for the "Headwaters Trail". Follow this trail. After a few minutes you will have to cross a road. Be careful. The corner to the left is a blind one. Once across the road, you will continue on this trail for a very short while and then you will come to a junction. Facing you will be a sign for the Homestead trail". You can go along this route, or you can take the right fork. It doesn't matter which one you take because this is a loop and you will get to the falls regardless of which way you go from here.
It is about a fifteen minute walk from this point. Keep on the trail and eventually you will see a culvert. It will be on your right or your left depending on which part of the loop you took. Keep your eyes open here. On your right (or left) the water from the culvert goes into the bush. Follow it for no more than a few feet and the falls will be revealed to you.
Hiking boots are a definite recommendation. I went for the first time today and part of the trail was washed out which meant a little bit of a clamber. It stormed last night and that meant lots of water on the trail too. I shall revisit in the Fall and winter to update this report.

This civic museum is nestled away in a forest by the village of Ancaster; a suburb of Hamilton. The museum is two rooms and a small archive in a old house. The exhibit on display until 2014 is called the ‘Bloody Assize.’
The exhibit tells of an court case for treason that happened in 1814. The display is very informative and it dispels all the misconceptions about the trial. There also a interesting display of political cartoons from the War of 1812.
The museum is just a block away from shopping and restaurants and it has a shaded picnic area. The Canadian Open Golf happens at the local golf course. Nearby towards the west is a road called Lover’s Lane and beyond that is a scenic drive along Mineral Springs Road. Along this road you can find the Griffin House a National Historic Site that was the pioneer home of a black settler. And you will find the Hermitage an old ruins and picnic site in the Dundas Conservation Area. These roads are good for cycling and the conservation area has plenty of trails including the Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail. The museum is a good afternoon outing and a starting point to explore the area.

We came here to pick strawberries. It had just rained though so they had to close off the strawberries. We didn't get any picking done, but enjoyed the view. It is a beautiful Market. Definitely trying to come back soon to pick our berries.

Ancaster Theatre is fantastic! We have enjoyed many of their productions and continue to be amazed at the quality of the production, cast, costumes and scenery. The music is wonderful. We go to Toronto a few times a year to see proffessional Performances, but enjoy the offerings of Ancaster Theatre just as much (more, in a couple of instances) for a fraction of the price. What a treat for the whole family. We can't wait to see their latest venture of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum". We might even go twice!

We've had a number of paintings, prints and university graduation diplomas framed here and each project was tailored exactly as we had envisioned. The Owner is very knowledgeable, friendly and the work is excellent. There is a wide selection of frames, finishes etc. to choose from together with some beautiful art hanging in the gallery.
