Almaty /ˈælməti/ (Kazakh: Алматы, Almaty [ɑlmɑˈtə]; Russian: Алматы), formerly known as Alma-Ata /ˌælmə.əˈtɑː/ (Russian: Алма-Ата) and Verny (Russian: Верный Vernyy), is the largest city in Kazakhstan, with a population of 1,797,431 people, about 8% of the country's total population. It served as capital of the Kazakh state in its various forms from 1929 to 1997, under the influence of the then Soviet Union and its appointees. Alma-Ata was the host city for a 1978 international conference on Primary Health Care where the Alma Ata Declaration was adopted, marking a paradigm shift in global public health. In 1997, the government relocated the capital to Astana in the north of the country, which is about 12 hours away by train.

I truly recommend SUV tour. Everything was well organized. The guide Chingiz was professional, friendly and flexible to our needs. Ww were not properly equipped for the long trekking and the guide proposed us an alternative itinerary which was amazing as well. We will come back to Almaty region to visit other beautiful places and we will use SUV tour again

This tour was great! Chingiz and Askhat arranged for to take our whole family (6 adults and 2 kids) up to big Almaty Lake and to the falcon show. We also stopped for lunch on the trip up to the Lake. The location they selected was fantastic! Great food and wonderful conversation. Both our tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. The falcon show was wonderful and Chingiz made sure we all sat in the best spot in the bleachers, The grandkids loved the falcon show. Chingiz also took us on a tour of the falcon show facilities so we were able to see the birds and Kazakh dogs up close. We highly recommend Explore Kazakhstan!

It is with pleasure and confidence that we recommend this two day tour by Gulzat of Qasia Tour. We appreciated how well this brief tour was organized. It was great to see three famous, beautiful sites (with plenty of time at each) with an overnight stay included in the price. The tour prices with this operator are reasonable, fitting easily into our our budget. We received a great value for our money. For us part of traveling, is how well we enjoy the trip, not just the sites. Gulzat's cheerful personality and big smile made the ride enjoyable, allowing us to a chance to relax and have fun.
