What to do and see in Alaska, United States: The Best Cultural Tours

August 27, 2021 Russell Mellin

Alaska is divided into five regions: far north, interior, southwest, south central, and inside passage. Although it takes a long time to see the entire state, you can travel through the regions by boat, car, bus, or plane. Hike through the mountains, or venture out on a deep sea fishing or whale watching excursion. Get in touch with nature by camping in the wilderness, or experience your preferred degree of class and luxury in the beautiful, active cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks.

We called on a last minute whim - after a full-day of fishing, and Sarah got us hooked up! Super easy to book and very accomodating. Our pilot was terrific - knew the area really well and was a great guide. The views were outstanding and of course landing on a glacier is over the top! Worth the money....there was so much more to Seward then what meets the eye!

Traveling solo, I was skeptical and overwhelmed with options but the folks at Salmon Berry really made everything so easy! Even though I booked and rebooked tours (that was just me being indecisive!), they accommodated all my needs and even found a last minute spot for me on the Prince William Sound tour. I cannot recommend them enough! Thank you for making my Alaska trip so memorable!

This your was more like being out with a friend showing you around Anchorage!

I came to Icy Strait Point, excited for some whale watching. We saw a humpback whale soon after leaving. A little later, we came across many whales later on that breached all the way up. There was one whale that went directly under the boat. We also saw a pod of orcas on the way back along with a sea otter. Overall, while I wish that the boat ride could have gone to Glacier Bay, it was a highlight of Alaska.

Wild Wolf Tours is a small female owned tour company. Tracy our guide (& owner of company) was AMAZING! She truly loves what she does and it shows. She's very knowledgeable on the area, customs and cultures in Alaska. We were able to see black bears and salmon spawning during our tour. I'd recommend this tour to anyone that's physically able to take the tour, as it does require the ability to walk for approximately 45min hike in the rainforest. If you're interested in supporting the local economy book with Wild Wolf Tours, you won't be disappointed!
