Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary

Reviewed By Hiten_Rathod - Ahmedabad, India

Located on ahmedabad sanand route at 68 kms, this place is well connected by road. You can also approach from rajkot road side upto changodar and take a turn near kerala village. There is a sign board for nal sarovar. Once you reach the place park your vehicle in fee parking space and take the entry ticket for the lake. You would be pestered to take boat ride tickets. Not compulsory. Broadly two categories of visits ; 1) As a tourist - Take an entry fee. There is a battery operated vehicle that takes you to the lake.As a measure of silence zone.If you are fit and have time you can walk this way in 30 to 45 minutes and also enjoy bird watching as you walk.So taking a vehicle ride is not a must.Once you reach and have a stroll,if you feel like there are many boatsman around.Have a deal for time and places he will take you.Ranges from number of persons to the demand and supply condition.Bargain your best. b) As a bird lover.- Take an entry fee.Bargain with the locals present there and finalise the time and number of islands he will take you to.Let him know the birds you are intersted to watch so that he can plan your visit accordingly.Be firm on your time and bird watching places and islands.Pay once you are satisfied. If he meets more than your expectations do pay him a bonus. This will encourage him to please his tourists in future. To be on safe side for casual tourists they have a fixed amount for time and places to number of persons.A display board displays the same.Purchase the tickets and move around accordingly. You need some 3 to 4 hours once you reach the place. For bird watchers there is decent accomodation facility by the government. You can see the same in attached photos. Here you get lunch and dinner with advance information.Snacks are available at short notice. You might have an awful experience if hooked by some non-genuine local for the boat visit. So take help of some known person and try your own wisdom and judgements. Visit in early mornings, winters and times of bird migration.Avoid summers and hot days. Overall a nice place to visit for half a day from Ahmedabad. Enjoy. Y
