Cavalry Tank Museum was established by Armoured Corps Center & school in 1994. Set among pristine lawns it is the only museum of its kind in Asia for the tank enthusiasts. It houses 53 exhibits of World war vintage oldest being the Silver Ghost Rolls Royce Armoured car of 1914. From tanks of world war to those made in Germany, captured from Pakistan it is a exhibition of its kind . The Museum has been refurbished to make it more visitor friendly. Souvenirs have been introduced to carry the memories with you. Guide is available in hindi, marathi, english. For bookings call the contact number. Facilities available are refreshments, souvenirs, toilets, sitting area, live music. A very nominal fee of Rs 50 for adults and Rs 25 for child 6 to 12 yrs is charged for maintainence. Special concession is available for school tours. So for all those living in the district or passing through Ahmednagar, this is a great getaway to relive the nostalgia of the glorious heritage of the Indian Army.

The Tank Museum is located in Ahmednagar, a short distance away from the city center. It is a place, which every patriotic Indian should make an effort to visit. It is one of its kind military museum in Asia. The Tanks and armored vehicles, numbering around 50 are displayed in open spaces. The trees lining the display area provides a ample shade for the exhibits as well as the visitors. The displayed tanks, which have all been decommissioned, were primarily used by British and Indian armed forces. There are also some tanks which were taken as trophies from the enemy forces. There were three single floored buildings in which the galleries displaying the information about the glorious history associated with the armored corps are housed. The museum is maintained very clean and tidy, considering that it is in open area. Photography of the exhibits is allowed. We also enjoyed the patriotic songs which were being continuously played from the speaker places all around the Museum. Overall, we found the place to be awesome. Only thing we missed was a shop selling souvenir, which visitors could take with them.

Viewed this lake 3 days back... in monsoon it was swelling and water was coming on road... what a beautiful sight... crystal clear water, dancing waves , green surroundings... it was a treat to eyes... it was almost sunset time and it was heavenly sight

Recently visited the temple on the day of Maha Shivratri. It took approximately 2+ hours from Moregoan as roads were not very good esp from Daund till temple. I recommend to carry food as there are not many good places to eat enroute. It was easy access to the temple with no rush. There are very few steps so might be an issue for someone unless can climb couple of stairs. It is 100+ km straight to Pune

Sandhan valley is a beautiful carved valley in magnificent Sayhadri mountain range, which is part of Western Ghats in Maharashtra. Surrounded with mighty and jaw-dropping mountains of Ratangad and Kalsubai, the valley stands at the height of 4255 ft high above sea level, which is the perfect spot for trekking and other adventure activities. The trek goes through 200 ft deep and 2 km long gorge carved by water between the narrow walls. The adventurous part of the trek kicks in when we are left to rappel down the 100 ft rocky patch with the help of experienced guides and equipment. Unlike all treks, we descend down in valley on the first day and climb up the next day. We camp in the valley and while descending, we have to rappel down at 3 spots. This trek is not for people who want to give up halfway! Entry to Sandhan Valley is Free, people who are just visitors and not prepared for the hike are recommended to not venture beyond the water pond. While on the trek, its must to carry Sleeping bag, sleeping mat, Food, you should be accomapnied by professional guides with rope equipment for rappelling and anchoring at few spots. We can arrange a trek for you to Sandhan Valley with the full package ie: Professional Guide, Climbing equipement, tents, sleeping bags, food etc.

Three weeks ago I had a chance to visit Sandhan Valley. Advised against by many because of the monsoons, I was adamant and took up this trip just for the sake of seeing the Reverse waterfall. And I must say it wasn’t a bad decision at all. Sandhan valley is a beautiful carved valley in the magnificent Sahyadri mountain range, which is a part of the mighty Western Ghats in Maharashtra. Since it was monsoon, the valley was not open for trekkers. But with a little help from the local guides, you can get to see the accessible portion of the valley and the Reverse waterfall. Reaching Sandhan valley from Mumbai: Train from Dadar to Igatpuri: Geetanjali Express, Sleeper Coach, Price: Rs. 175, Duration 2hrs Share auto from Igatpuri to Ghoti: Rs15, Duration: 20mins. There are some buses available but you will have to check their schedule. (Network is not that great after Ghoti) Share Taxi from Ghoti to Bhandardara: Rs.50, Duration : 1hr Share Taxi from Bhandardara to Samrad village(Sandhan Valley): Rs.50,Private Cab: Rs700 – Round Trip (Great bargain for a group), Duration: 1 hr After reaching Samrad village, we hired a local guide to show us a few points around Sandhan Valley. (Guide charges were Rs.300 for the group) 1st point: The actual valley. It was overflowing with water so could not walk in the water but he showed us a small waterfall. It was amazing. 2nd point: Reverse waterfall. This was at height of 2000ft and also the best part of the trip. You get completely drenched in water when standing beside it. Also, the guide threw a coin in the air near the reverse waterfall. The intensity of the wind was so high that the coin came back to us. The entire region was foggy and it was raining heavily that day. Do carry a good windcheater and good non-slippery shoes to walk around. We spent around an hour and half around the points. It was great to walk through the cold streams. Return Journey to Mumbai: Shared cab from Bhandardara to Fatak: Rs.10, Duration: 20min (is it that cheap?) Shared cab from Fatak to Kasara: Rs.100, Duration: 2hrs As there were no express trains from Igatpuri at that particular time (around 7pm), we had to board a local train from Kasara which took around 2 hours to reach Dadar. Getting your own mode of transportation would be the most suitable and suggested way of getting to Sandhan Valley because getting public transport is difficult as the timings are not fixed for the transport modes. The guide advised us to come back in October for the full trek which would be around 10hrs.He said they also provide packages for the trek. Overall, I would say that if you’re interested in checking out the Reverse waterfall then you must definitely visit this place.

Recently we have visited Bhandardara for a weekend trip of two days and stayed at MTDC Resort. Amruteshwar temple is about 25km from MTDC Resort and we drove down to the temple through the protected forest area (under Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctury) ...... The drive was picturesque and scenic with amazing view of Arthur lake on one side and Kalsubai - Harishchandragad peaks on other sides .... makes the journey unforgettable. However, the road conditions through the protected forest area was very bad and bumpy .... advisable to take SUV if you go by road. About the temple : Amruteshwar Temple is an ancient Shiva temple situated on the bank of the river Pravara at Ratanwadi village (under Ahmadnagar district), which is the base village for traking to famous Ratangad fort . This temple is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered to be over 1,000 years old. The beautiful stone carved temple was built by the rulers of Shilahara Dynesty in the 9th Century A.D .... Local people says, that the present one is one of the 12 Shiva temples built by king Jhang. The temple was constructed in Hemadpanthi architectural style with beautiful rock carvings on the main shrine. The ceiling, walls and the pillars of the temple are decorated with some impressive & lovely art forms, like Gandharvas, Ganikas, Dancers with poses, snakes , flowers etc. ..... Inside the main temple, you need to walk few stairs down to reach the actual Shiva Linga .... The Shiva Linga is half submarged below the ground level .... can be reached from the front & rear entrances .... careful about the steps of the stairs , they are uneven ... The Nandi is at the rear entrance of the temple which is currently used as the main entrance. There is also a 'Bawdi' near the temple complex . The atmosphere of the temple is vey calm , probably due to very less visitors that makes you feel relax with peace of mind. How to reach Ratanwadi by road : From MTDC Bhandardara continue on the Ratangad - Rajur road after crossing the Wilson Dam. After few kilometers, you will get a small dam by the side of the road. After this point take the road on your right which leads to Ratanwadi through protected forest area (about 20 km). Here you have to pay a toll (Rs.100/- per vehicle + Rs. 30/- per person ; as entry fee collected by the wildlife sanctuary) to enter this road . Other travel tips : - Ample free parking space available near the temple complex. - You will get only some small eateries (say for Chai & Bada - Pao) near the parking , most of which generally opens during weekends bcoz of very less visitors. - Advisable to carry your own water bottles, but pl. don't pollute the surroundings. - Temple opens all days : 6:00am to 5:30pm - The Ratanwadi village can also be reached by boat from Bhandardara and to cross the Arthur lake. The details to be enquired locally. Definitely a must visit place near Bhandardara to rejuvinate yourself ..... Wonderful journey through forest road with great views of the lake & surrounding mountain range !!!

Umbrella falls appear only when a gate is released from the wilson dam and luckily when we went it was in full flow owing to the incessant rains all through this month. The falls are unbelievably beautiful to say the least. Its a pretty easy trek reaching the core waterfalls where you can stand exactly in front of the magnificent falls and enjoy the downpour and mist. Standing there reminded me of dudhsagar waterfalls in many ways, although its not as huge as the latter. Nevertheless must experience the waterfall to truly appreciate it, words simply fall short.
