Adonius met us 15 minutes before the scheduled show time. The van was clean, spacious for six adults, and very comfortable for the ride to Knossos (2 hours away). The archaeologist, Irene, who was contracted as our tour guide was very knowledgeable and able to answer technical questions at both the Palace and Museum. We had a brief snack in Heraklion in the Venician Quarter before we returned. We were back at the dock slightly ahead of the eight hours contracted & were able to have dinner on our ship. FAR BETTER THAN A CRUISE EXCURSION, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Less expensive, more comfortable and a better guide

Our vacation in Greece after staying in Athens for 2 days included Santorini and Crete. While we were in Santorini we met a couple (Chris and Heather) that had just left Crete and the first thing they told us was that we had to meet Kostas if we were planning on going on a tour. They gave us his number and when we got there we went on the Knossos - Lasithi tour of his. First of all, he spoke great English which made his storytelling even more enjoyable. Then the places we visited were amazing. My favourite part was the hike uphill to the cave. After Knossos (the last stop of our tour) Kostas took us to an amazing traditional restaurant which was the cherry on top of a great day.

Had this safari booked for 30th Oct, our driver was Vasilis - he was simply class!! We had an amazing day, visited olive oil factory, Zeus cave, gone 1200m up in mountains to a plato, seen goats and old wind mills, been to a lovely beach and stopped at Agios Nikolaos for a little shoping... And all the way Vasilis was telling us stories about Crete's people, history and greek mythology! Seriously one of the best day trips we've ever been to!! ???????? Thank u Vasilis very much!! Wear comfy shoes, bring some cash with u, don't forget swim suit, towel, sun cream ???? We bought some oil, honey, hand cream etc, all of very good quality! Note, they do accept cards even high in the mountains to pay entrance fee for Zeus cave, but (!!) power cuts are quite common, and u can only pay by cash then, so be aware ????

With a minibus your Eye Travel guide shows you the Spinalonga island and other interesting places. Our first stop is in Agios Nikolaos where we have a fantastic view over the "Bottomless lake". You have some free time for a coffee and a stroll along the most eastern main city of Crete. After passing Elounda it is time for SPINALONGA, the last leper colony of Europe. A typical Cretan fishing boat brings you to the island, this takes no more than 10 minutes. On the island you make a tour. After finishing the trip on Spinalonga, a fishing boat brings you back to the small village of Plaka. Plaka is a tiny harbor, so the unique opportunity to eat fresh fish. After our lunch we are heading to an olive oil factory. You get a guided tour through the factory. All facts about olive oil, the pressing methods and grades of olive oil are explained. At the end of the tour you can taste different olive oils and other local products.

Originally, Spinalonga was not an island – it was part of the island of Crete. During Venetian occupation the island was carved out of the coast for defence purposes and a fort was built there. During Venetian rule, salt was harvested from salt pans around the island. The island has also been used as a leper colony. Spinalonga has appeared in novels, television series, and a short film. This excursion is a perfect option for those who want to combine land & sea tours. You will also have the opportunity to visit the eastern part of Crete, Agios Nikolaos, a small town with a picturesque harbour and the island of Spinalonga.

Santorini Wine Tour

This tour will take you from the heights of the rocky Lassithi plateau to the traditional villages tucked away off the beaten path. We start at the village of Krasi where we will visit the huge 2,400-years-old Writer’s Plane Tree, named so because it was beloved by Nikos Kazantzakis, one of the most famous Greek writers of the 20th century. In the same village we’ll get to see how the Cretans used to wash their clothes in the traditional manner. Next up is Panagia Kera, a 13th century Byzantine monastery where you can find among the gorgeous iconography a depiction of the Catholic St. Francis, who is famous in Crete. Afterwards, the tour will ascend to the unique Lassithi Plateau, a rocky and austere long treasured for the beauty of its scenery. Our guide was great as we scheduled easy pick up and drop off locations. Each winery had a different feel as they were located in different parts of southern Santorini. Tour was finished off with Venetsanos winery which was located in the cliffs overlooking the caldera. We would recommend.
