Milos Mining Museum

When the guide says we are going to a mining museum, the expectations start out low. This place was well organized and had interesting and engaging exhibits. The geology of this island is surprisingly diverse leading to it being a major source of minerals from prehistoric times to the present. Particularly heart wrenching is the plight of the island sulfur miners, who eventually worked with no pay in a futile effort to keep the mine going. Hands-on exhibits where you can touch the various minerals such as kaolin are a nice feature.

Church of Agios Haralambos

Reviewed By DianeVOC - Silver Spring, United States

In October, 2019, we visited Adamas, Milos, Greece, where we hiked up to see this church several times. The beautiful bell tower, and handsome church were closed the first two times we visited. Happily on our third visit we were fortunate to be able to walk through the interior as it was Saturday and several very kind women were decorating the church with flowers. The interior is richly decorated with frescoes, icons, and flowers. If you can figure out how to get in, it is well worth the visit.
