Folklore Museum of Acharavi

The Folklore Museum of Acharavi in Corfu was inaugurated in October 2008. It is located just opposite the Roman baths of Acharavi in a private building of 1,000 sq.m. The museum was an inspiration and creation of Spyros Vlachos, who searched and found interesting folk items of northern Corfu to display there. The permanent collection of the museum is diplayed in two rooms. It includes old photos, books and manuscripts that date from 1862, coins from the period of the Ionian State , wooden folk furniture, loom, traditional olive press, kitchen utenslis, agricultural tools, watermill, ecclesiastical items and other exhibits that present the historical course of Corfu from the 18th century till today. The museum also has a conference room where lectures and seminars take place, a traditional coffee shop as well as a permanent exhibition of traditional products and woven handicrafts.

Nice little museum with some interesting items and history of Greek culture. The lady who works there is very friendly and enjoys sharing her knowledge. Well worth a visit, entrance is €3 which isn't bad and the whole place takes around and hour to browse. And interesting respite from the sun and shops.

Lovely and very clean beach, it feels really safe. There are nice bars and restaurants. The beach is pebbly but once you get in the sea there is only lovely sand . Highly recommended.
