Walking the colorful streets of Marais neighborhood, sooner or later, you're about to run into this terrific sq, very close to Bastille sq. It's considered to be the oldest planned sq in Paris, rectangular in shape with extraordinary same shape houses around. The central part is a French manicured park with Louis XIII monument in the middle. Victor Hugo lived in a corner house which is now converted into a museum.

We happened to stumble across this memorial site. The surface looks like a small, peaceful park, and overlooks the Seine. Once you are inside, the weight of the memorial will come down on you. An extremely moving site, and something to see for all.

Many years ago we rented an apartment on this lovely street and had the time of our lives for 6 months. The island has changed, not for the better, alas, now full of tourists and it has become the land of ice cream with one ice cream stand after another. But still, the architecture is lovely, and the block at the end of the island toward the East is still sublime and quiet.

I came out of the Hotel De Ville stop to get to Notre Dame Cathedral. It looked like the train station is connected to the building but it was all closed off when I was there so I ended up outside instead. I was on the back end of the building and was fascinated with the architecture. As I moved towards the front of the building towards the bridge to Note Dame, I noticed a statue on horseback on the side of the building. As I neared the bridge I noticed that there was a festival of some sort in the front area of the hotel. It looked like a winter festivalwith free rides for kids. It was New Year so it could also have been related to that. Apart from rides there were a few stalls for food and shops of items. There were also a few photo areas. The building looks quite amazing from afar and does look nice closer up when you are able to see some of the intricate details. I was able to get close to the building but not inside since it looked like it was closed. The colourful lighting around the area made it quite festive and interesting. It was an unexpected but really enjoyable find.

Ile Saint-Louis is one of 2 islands in the middle of the Seine. Its streets are filled with 17th and 18th century architecture with lots of quaint shops, cafes and restaurants. The island is quite small and easily walk-able and a must for anyone visiting Paris

This is a beautiful tower within the square of the same name, it was actually part of a church that was destroyed during the french Revolution, still it, makes there most amazing piccies.

We chose our lodging near this street- in order to be close to it because of the access to Jewish and kosher stores and restaurants. It is now a tourist attraction of sorts, and is a closed-to-traffic walking pedestrian mall. The street is narrow anyway. We enjoyed wandering along the street, looking at all the stores- the apparel shops, the Jewish stores, the kosher restaurants and the ones that claim to be kosher (be careful- if that makes a difference to you). We look forward to returning to this place. I know what I'm writing about because.... I visited this place
