What to do and see in 12th Arr. - Reuilly, Ile-de-France: The Best Concerts & Shows

April 13, 2022 Roseanne Arnett

Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

Opera Bastille

This sleek auditorium, opened in 1989, is the site of ballet and opera performances.

I bought tickets for the production of La Traviata on December 20, 2018. Arrived to find our seats on the orchestra 3rd row center. A wonderful venue but a contemporary motif. If you are looking for a classical opera house, the Opera Garnier might be more your cup of tea. The acoustics were perfect and the performance did not disappoint. The performers had strong, well trained voices. Orchestra accompaniment was solid and professional.!The play lasted a total of about 3.5 hours with just over 2 hours of performance and two intermissions. As should be the performance was in Italian. French and English subtitles were provided on screens over and beside the stage. These screens in no way blocked or interfered with the Opera. Along with my Christmas Market visits, this was the highlight of my trip.

AccorHotels Arena

AccorHotels Arena is a great place to watch concerts and shows in Paris. Many famous international artists perform here. It is also the site for the ATP Paris Masters tennis tournament. Tickets for most events get booked months in advance, so get in early and get good seats. Located in Bercy, it is situated right outside the Bercy metro station and has easy access. It is well designed, with plenty of entry and exit points, so that it doesn't get incredibly crowded. I was here for the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience (which was out of this world!!) at the metro station in under 10 minutes of the show ending, which says something about how well it was managed and designed (getting all those thousands of spectators out that easily). The arena is well designed to offer good views from all seats, no matter how far you are from the action. The sound is awesome, and so are the pyrotechnics and lighting. The staff is friendly and nice. The food here is also good, and they have plenty of food outlets, all selling the common items like water, drinks, popcorn, sweets, and each specialising in some other food, like pizzas (you an get them by the slice), burgers, fries, wraps and sandwiches, ... They had some vegetarian options like a veg pizza, sandwich, fries, burger, ... The food was good. They sell drinks and water by opening the cap of the bottle and keeping it, which I did to understand and found weird because then it becomes difficult to carry an open bottle in a dark arena once the show starts and for fizzy drinks, it they lose all power and flavour. They have plenty of toilets. They also sell some merchandise for the event, though I was disappointed by the Game of Thrones merch. There were only a handful of items on sale, and they were all terrible. The closest metro station is Bercy on lines 6 and 14.

Cirque Phenix

Cirque Phénix is a French animal-free circus created by Alain Pacherie in 2000. Since then, more than 10 million spectators over the world have attended Cirque Phénix’s shows. Cirque Phénix possesses its own tent. Each year, in the winter time, it sets in the capital to present its new blockbuster. With its 5500 seats, Cirque Phénix’s tent is the biggest in the world. Devoid of all internal structures, providing thus an unparalleled visibility to the spectators, Cirque Phénix is an ultra modern tent designed for his exceptional and extravagant perfomances. Phénix' circus blockbusters consist of a spectacular combination of drama, dance, music and acrobatics. Shows performed by its famous Beijing Circus Stars, CirKAfrika or CirkaCuba bring evidence for Cirque Phénix’s very unique fingerprint. Alain Pacherie is also the Head of the Cirque de Demain festival, the most prestigious circus competition worldwide and the head of the renowned Fratellini circus school.
