This restaurant take-away in the Somerset Mall isa the place to go for your marine tastes and needs. The fare is freshly prepared and the interior design smacks of a seaside restaurant. The service is good and the prices are very reasonable for the ample portions served. No fishy business here, just good wholesome old fish n chips or if you are more discerning great comos available with king prawn included and lightly fried tender calamari strips and creamy mussels! We visited after a recommendation. The restaurant has an odd layout and if you chose to sit outside you find yourself sitting down the side of the building with cars passing by and in a wind trap and it’s not very attractive! The service was perfectly pleasant and we chose specials which were very average and certainly not amazing The vegetables were boring and tasteless. The butter served with the bread was rancid which didn’t help. We found the experience overall to be disappointing mostly because nothing about Al Dente is exceptional it’s all just average and stuck in some sort of time warp. The ambience is not great and it needs an overhaul. Sadly it fails to resemble my expectation of a good Italian restaurant.

there have been some changes at this restaurant, and we went along for Xmas lunch. Oh my, it was simply gorgeous. Superb menu, in the great Italian way, superb ingredients, not too much fuss, (sorry chef I know you fuss a lot over the food but it comes out so clean and easy on the eye) and the results are stunning. The staff were lovely, and it is somewhere that has a wonderful ambiance. I have been away for many an xmas, and that was the best xmas meal abroad ever.

Taking friends to lunch we arrived at this beautiful winery to experience an excellent tasting room for both wine and olive oils, with charming and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant position overlooking lawns and lake are beautiful, and the food is excellent with of course an excellent selection of varietal, locally produced wines. Well worth a visit.

We lived in Strand for a couple of months and this was one of our hangouts. Great sushi, great fish n chips! Great ocean views. Unfortunately no dogs allowed.

Been to JJ's twice to catch up with some girlfriends - Saturday afternoon on the spur of the moment type of decision. We received friendly service and the prices are reasonable. We have always just had coffee and cake type of food at JJ's. It is always tasty and feel content after sharing some time with friends over a cup of coffee. You can sit inside or outside and it is across the road from the beach, so also some lovely views.

Went for a quick dinner after moving into our new home. We were tired so wanted something easy and found this place. Really well cooked fish, attentive service and reasonable wine prices. They have a terrace with a nice sea view for warm days and nights which we’re looking forward to trying out. We ate at Ocean Basket in Montecasino a week earlier but it was nowhere near s good as the one in Strand. Also, they allow you to take your own wine and don’t charge corkage on the first bottle - very generous.Hey there Biztripjoburg,Thank you for such a great 5-star review! We went there for lunch following the high review & we were left very disappointed. The service is slow & poor(no one smile there), the food is below average, the salmon bites came burnt & when I asked if this is normal the answer was yes! we had a great time. food was good o general Although starter of mussels was top notch. very attentive manager Checked with us several times... we had a little event with our bill which left us wondering .we will tell you as a cautionary tale. our bill added up to About 700 rands with service, which we paid in cash. my husband got the bills, counted. gave them to me, I double checked. handed to the waiter. he ran after us and claimed we had given him 6 x100bills and 1 10 rands bill instead of 7× 100 rands. we felt quite embarrassed and confused and handed him another 100 rand bill. at that moment we were rather preoccupied with sth else so thought nothing of it. later, tho, hubby said: look at these bills, tho we are foreigners and all, they are not that easy to confuse... both the Color and size are completely different... we double checked... so basically not accusing anyone but I would make sure I counted the bills in front of the Server before leaving this ( and after this even any) restaurant.
