The service was great the evening we were here, considering how loud, rowdy, and busy it was. We didn't mind, it was nothing obnoxious and we could tell from the outside that it was full of families. G's T-Bone was good, my ribs were OK, helped out by some pretty good sauces. Fries and onion rings were both tasty. The worst thing was the awful-tasting water. Good thing there was lemon to doctor it with. The manager stopped by to check on us. I have not been in a spur for many years so I did not have huge expectations.Not only was it the best fillet I had in a long time but my friend also said his ribs were amazing.I have to name the waitress by name - Sharen- as being one of the nicest and most helpful waitresses I have ever encountered. When I complained about my initial sirloin I have ordered she offered to chance it without hesitation. This lovely attitude made my visit to the spur a great experience. We had the privilege to spend the night at Colins Grill with family.What an amazing menu.Starters are very different and delicious.There crispy Eisbein bites were amazing,theFish Goujons were lovely.Mhilo Frito is a dish made of stiff pap deep fried.Mains were all very tasty and well presented.

Spur are very good with there value for money burgers on a monday. There food are great look out for there specials. The service are good and the staff very friendly. They do have a very nice open seating area. Thus Spur is worth a visit. Nice place to meet friends for an outing.

After 3 meetings we were hungry and we still had a way to travel.We saw The Silver Creek Spur, and not keen franchise supporters, we were 'forced' to go there due to above reasons.Hamburgers we ordered.....it arrived and the roll that did not contain the patty and other normal burger stuff, was unattractively placed on our plates. Not toasted, not buttered, not placed on flat top.....nothing, just horribly unattractive.I asked the manager to please have the half toasted.She took the roll to the kitchen and the waiter brought back........have a look at the photos.......you won't believe if I told you.First photo: what it looked like when I called the managerSecond photo: what the waiter returnedVery hahaI am done with Spur.....I did promise myself that previously.....now I will stop for a 'heart burn pie' somewhere....Cheers Spur......I will remember the days when clients, service and pride in the name were important elements of the brand..Dear all4you2be,Thank you for taking the time to review Silver Creek Spur Restaurant. The setting of the restaurant on the Tyger Waterfront is very nice, however getting parking is a bit of a problem especially if you donât want to be parked in.The car guard on duty the night we visited was quite arrogant! We were quite a big group of 20 plus. The food was GREAT but possible not to the same standard as the Cattle Baron at van Riebeekshof?The service was ok but not sharp, for such a big group I would have expected to see the manager of the night to make frequent turns to ensure everything runs smoothly?It was a beautiful evening so reservations for the big group were made to sitting outside. Being older than most of you reading this, I was around when it all began with the Golden Spur in Newlands. The franchise grew and grew and nothing could beat the taste and value of Spur. Wimpy, Steers, McDonald's,KFC didn't even come close. Well, that's all gone now. Sadly, the publicity photos on this site don't even remotely resemble what they will serve you. It's just awful. Gone are those thick juicy pure beef burgers. Remember those fresh and delicious salads? You won't see those again. Those succulent, meaty, well basted ribs? Forgetaboutit! The terrific service with a smile? Totally extinct. Now you'll get poor service with overpriced mediocre food. Looking for a decent burger? Go to Gibsons or Ragafellows or Hudsons or Jerrys. It may be out of your way but it's worth it. And I also tried the Seven Spur in Sea Point. Positively the worst burger and worst mushrooms ever. Remember the Devils fork mushrooms? Well, you can't have it anymore. Now you get overpriced, overcooked stodge. Went there for dinner with another couple. From the minute we walked in we felt welcome. Very friendly, helpful and organized staff. We were served quickly and did not wait long for our food. Was torn between choosing the ribs or the schnitzel. Our food came quickly and I could tell it was just prepared, not pre-cooked and sitting on a hot plate. The food was AMAZING! We had a crumbed mushroom starter, very tasty, not watery or rubbery. I had the chicken schnitzel and my partner had the ribs. The schnitzel was juicy and perfectly done. I had a taste of the ribs...SO GOOD! I don't know what they use as a basting sauce, but it is amazing! The portions are HUGE! Go hungry! The owner even popped round at our table after we where done to see if we were happy, which I think is very nice. I would like to thank our waitress, Janika, for her amazing, friendly service. Would most certainly go there again, finishing the 1.2kg ribs is on my bucket list!I would say that a booking is essential as they are quite busy.
