Disappointing stay for price

Reviewed By JudithN179

We were disappointed with this accommodation. We hadn’t realised the motel was out of town but this wasn’t the issue. We booked the studio motel which look nice from outside but they are tired. Dark and quiet for sleeping but ….. tv is really small, lack of tv channels, one side of bed hard to get in to and bathroom was wet room floor which should have been clear in advert. I find these disgusting around toilets and wouldn’t have booked if this was stated. We were advised we would get clean towels each day, which we did but dish towels and face clothes were not replaced and no other housekeeping was done. For the same comparative cost of a Motel in town I would have expected the standard housekeeping.

A very pleasant location with a holiday atmosphere, close to town, the 2 bedroom unit was excellent, clean and very comfortable beds. Good bathrooms. Would stay there again anytime. It was our first stay there, and sought it out to stay there again on our return trip. It would be even better if they could provide chromecast tv or netflix etc as the tv options were minimal. Overall though it was great.

Parking right outside the door limited tv channels it's so isolated perhaps net flix or something similar would be a good idea. The bed was comfortable and the Asian young woman who checked us in was great and provided excellent service. You can't do much about loud neighbors but everyone seems to have them on holiday and this place is no exception.

Hokitika Holiday Park

Hokitika Holiday Park grew out of our desire to provide a service for our local community. We saw a need to provide accommodation for all the visitors being turned away from our ‘Cool Little Town’ by a lack of accommodation. The family tradition of generous hospitality then evolved into Hokitika Holiday Park. Our family owned and operated business was designed by experienced campers with the aim to solve some of the difficulties and frustrations often encountered while holiday-making. For this reason, our sites are generous, our facilities strategically situated, and parking any vehicle is easy. We are passionate about our holiday park, not only for your enjoyment, but because it is an investment for our children and their future. You may see our children on site, and they will be excited and pleased to see you, too. We’re here to help you have a great time in the place we love.

We loved it!

We kicked off a tour of the South Island in Hо̄kitika, and this was a perfect base. We would have loved to stay longer than two nights! The facilities were excellent, the playground was outstanding, and our cabin was cosy and well appointed. We had a great time exploring nearby, and roasting marshmallows on a brazier in the camp.

Loved the location, waterfall and fresh mountain water. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, clean facilities and everything u need or might have forgotten to bring available in kitchen. Stayed 2 nights in tent... only gripe was ground very rocky so bent some of our tent pegs. Nearly got lost trekking to the old quartz mine so hope the way gets cleared or better marked before others venture there. Will definitely be back sometime!

Loved my stay here. So close to the beach and easy access to other attractions in the area. Communal facilities were really clean and tidy with indoor and outdoor tables for eating, hot showers and laundry facilities. Only thought my one person unpowered site was a tad pricey at $20. Loved my on site coconut ice cream.

Westport Kiwi Holiday Park & Motels

Average camp a little run down

Reviewed By jimcC263QM

Having just come from the Hokitika Kiwi Holiday park, which was superb, I had some expectation that the Westport equivalent would be similar. Alas we were disappointed. This park was quite rundown and liked more like a giant car park for Britz camper vans ( not occupied) than a holiday park. There was also a big contingent of road workers at the camp and there was a definite bitumen odour in the air. T he e “free” wifi advertised only gave you a half hour to check emails otherwise it was an A m additional $5 for 24 h. The showers were good and there was no extra charge however the base rate ($43 with an NZMCA discount was more expensive th an the Hokitika camp which was very much better. Overall a very average experience and we wouldn’t go again.
