Najeti Hotel la Magnaneraie

On the banks of the Rhône, at the gateway to the famous city of the Popes, fall under the charm of the Hôtel La Magnaneraie. Located on the heights of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, our hotel invites you to take a quiet break and enjoy the peace and quiet of our garden and our heated outdoor swimming pool. A former country house, a place for feasting in the 16th century, which became a magnanerie - a silkworm farm - and then a wine estate in the 20th century before finding its hotel vocation in the 1970s, La Magnaneraie joined Najeti Hotels & Golfs Collection in 2000. Since then, the house has been reborn to offer its guests an intimate, warm and refined setting, making the dolce vita of Provence a true art of living. La Magnaneraie now offers a perfect alchemy of tradition and modernity, from the cosy interiors to the fragrant Mediterranean garden with its two 200-year-old plane trees.

Great home base for Provence tour

Reviewed By dhalcrow

My wife and I stayed four nights in a "Luxury Room" in the Najeti Hotel la Magnaneraie in late October, 2019. First let me state that this is a great time of year to tour Provence. Traffic on the secondary roads was light, fellow tourists in the towns and sites visited were few, and the temperature averaged about 20 degrees (70F). For us this was perfect and relaxing. This hotel we thought was a great location for car touring Provence. Roussillon, Baux, Nimes, Uzes, Gordes, Arles, and other sites in between were all less than an hour drive away, and of course we connected several on each day we "headed out". Of course Avignon centre was a 5 minute drive to a free parking lot along the river, a 4 minute free bus shuttle to the town wall, and about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. We did this excursion to Avignon for 3 evenings. We preferred eating in town where food service was available before the traditional 7:30pm (just not our time for eating, which is generally eating light). Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by Stephanie, who was always most helpful with directions and recommendations. A real bonus for us was that we could park our little rental car right outside the main entrance, and come and go with ease. The room was spacious, with a desk, table and chairs, and a very large bathroom with two sinks and large counter, a separate toilet enclosure, and a tub with a hand held sprayer. I would have preferred an actual shower, but no big deal. The room was very clean and neat, and the bed was comfortable. The choice of foods for breakfast was not anywhere near as extensive as was experienced in other French or Italian hotels, but it was fine for us as we both tend to prefer a simple breakfast of cereal, breads, fruit, and coffee. Also, I do believe that the hotel at this time of year did not have a lot of guests, and providing an extensive spread of food with inevitable waste would be foolish. To summarize, this is a fine hotel with quality rooms and facilities in an attractive village that for drivers is conveniently located for visits to various areas of Provence. The parking, for us, was a necessity. I believe almost religiously in the recommendations of Rick Steves when travelling in Europe, But I prefer substantially staying in the Avignon area for a Provence "home base" rather than his recommended Arles. I do want to mention as well that staff were impressively courteous and helpful, and pleasure veto meet.

Bountiful breakfast at a good location

Reviewed By HoekLens

Stayed here several nights in October. Breakfast is the most bountiful we've come across in 3 weeks in France. Parking is in the courtyard. Mind you the rooms are small, contemporary, apartments in the same courtyard. Service is very friendly and attentive. Pricing is very normal for location and season. We enjoyed dinner here one evening. This was a rather mediocre experience. Nothing bad, but really uneventful.

Only a little kettle in the room could have made it even better. Overall, fantastic hotel. Thank you Steve and Sophie! Nick

Maison Orsini

On the hillside of Villeneuve, our guest house offers a tremendous view on the Popes' Palace and Avignon. This house originally was Cardinal Orsini's palace and dates back from the XIVth century. It's architectural features have been faithfully maintained, and you'll find yourself in front of monumental chimneys and vaults, testimonies of its brilliant past. There are 4 suites and a bedroom available offering views on Provence and on the medieval Italian garden. You'll also enjoy walking around in Villeneuve, where you will be enchanted by its "provençal" market and antiques and its historical monuments.

Beautiful food in a relaxed, friendly and historical setting!

Having never stayed near Avignon I wanted a place that was quirky, welcoming and historic ideally with a pool to entertain our daughter. Maison Orsini doesn’t disappoint! Falco and his team were fantastic, kind and generous. I don’t think I’ve eaten nicer food in a long time. The flavours were subtle and brilliant. We will definitely return! It was a super quick bus ride straight into the city walls of Avignon xx

Very charming hotel!

Great location in a quiet neighborhood just outside Avignon. Gorgeous setting. Our room ( #12)had a private terrasse adjacent to the backyard with typical french furniture and lots of flowering plants and bushes. The breakfast area has a well maintained court or indoor room if it’s cold. Great rooftop terrasse! Breakfast selection is ok. Coffee, tea, water and homemade pastries available free of charge all day. There is a drop off area and free parking very close. Only negative points: no in room safe and bathroom doesn’t have a real shower (only shower head in bath).

Amazing restaurant!

Reviewed By Tortoisetraveller123

We happened to stumble across this restaurant in Villeneuve les Avignon. We didn’t know what to expect but the food was definitely the best meal we had in Provence! Luckily, it was very quiet so it was peaceful. We ate outside with the lovely view of the pool and garden. The staff were very friendly. We were given a complimentary dish of two large slices of pâté which was delicious. I had the foie gras as a starter which was smooth and delicate. For my main, I had the homemade crab and shrimp ravioli. The scallop dish was plentiful because we were given 7 scallops! The menu is a set menu for a great price. Overall, it was an amazing restaurant and I would love to go again.’

Lovely simple campsite close to Avignon

Reviewed By Mel B

We booked 2nights when we arrived and said we would maybe stay longer if we liked it. We ended up staying 6nights. We've always loved Avignon and have been here loads of times but we never knew about this campsite. Now we do, we will be back:-) This campsite is cheap even in high season. It used to be a municipal and thus you can use the swimmingpool which is situated next to the campsite. Other then that there is a little snack corner, a bouncy castle and table tennis, but that is it. No animation, no disco's just a nice campsite. There are a few rentals but they don't feel out of place and the showers and toilets are old but clean. I guess this campsite is "what you see is what you get" and we were lucky to get nice and not to noicy neighbours. All in all one to remember for when we want to visit Avignon again.

Absolutely lovely!

We had a wonderful time at this superb spot! Melanie was extremely kind and welcoming, and on the weekend of our stay she was able to be flexible about our check-out time, which was really important as I had a 10K race in Avignon the day of our departure and needed to be able to come back and cool off! The Villa Dupont is beautifully located on a hill above Villeneuve (but close enough to walk to the main square for dinner — both La Salamandre and Apium are excellent) and our very comfortable and stylish room was perfect for 2 adults and a child. It was very nice to have breakfast at our own little patio, and we adored the swimming pool, the swing set, and of course little Lou-Lou the dog. We hope to have a chance to come back—thank you so much, Melanie!
