The Xalapa version of the Puerto de Veracruz legend! The food is very well priced and well prepared. You can sample a number of regional specialties here and the coffee is always excellent. The little cornbread "torta de elote" was surprisingly good.

It was our first time in this restaurant after we had been highly recommended by a friend. The restaurant is large and is located right by the highway just before you enter Xalapa. The parking lot is ample however do take care as you enter as it goes from paved highway to off-road potholes in the entrance just before you enter the parking lot. The layout is nice and open with the buffet located in the middle. They have a big play area for the kids which can be viewed from most areas of the restaurant. Really nice to see a decent (and safe) play area. The buffet costs around 140 pesos per adult and 90 per child. They come around with seemingly unlimited rounds of "espadas" with different meats. The salad and sides buffet selection is also vast with something for everyone. For that price I dont think you can beat this place in Xalapa in value for money. The service is fast and friendly. My only complaints is that they didn´t give me my factura (fiscal receipt) and I waited a while it. With the "you have to chase it up sir" which is one of THE most annoying things when dining in Mexico. They should give it to you in the same moment as they often have time limits and as busy people, it often slips our minds and therefor it becomes void. The only other complaint is one that makes us, as a client feel a bit robbed. They have a barmaid pushing around a "bar-cart" offering caipirinhas. We thought, when in Rome so we had one each. When the bill came they charged us 116 pesos for each one which is absolutely ridiculous. Almost the same as an entire adult buffet meal. I know, we should have asked but as everything is reasonable you dont expect to be shafted like that. Not cool. Hope they use the profit from the caipirinhas (see below) to sort the offroad entrance! All in all, a recommendable dining experience.

Traditional mexican food... made With local ingredients, a place You must visit when you come to Xalapa.
If you've spent more than a few days in Xalapa and were eating out, it's hard to imagine not hearing about this very enjoyable restaurant. The menu appears to be fairly standard fare, but the management must encourage creativity because the chefs occasionally vary from tradition. The results have left us pleasantly surprised. Itacate is house in an old colonial style building with a central courtyard, and the atmosphere is fun. Paintings of vintage Mexican cinema stars adorn the walls, and a team of waiters are never still. The service is excellent. If you are going to breakfast there, be prepared to wait a little bit and, if you like, take a hot freshly made tortilla and try some of the homemade sauce in the molcajete. I have but one complaint and that is about the coffee. Maybe I haven't arrived early enough, because the coffee didn't taste much like coffee. There is a great place for coffee around the corner, but that's another review.

The food was very disappointing - I expected much better from a restaurant with such a lovely atmosphere. The restaurant itself is gorgeous so well worth a visit just to experience the place itself. There is wonderful live music at night - also a huge plus.On the whole, am glad I went - but next time would have a drink but not a meal there.

The view is nice because you can see Parque los Tecajetes. Food was good, although the restaurant was a little noisy.

A centric restaurant with variety of homemade regional food with attentive, helpful staff, a lovely patio and some original recipes (I tried beef with peach and honey, surprising and tasty).

Es la única sucursal del que tienen como mejor restaurante de Veracruz:
Beautiful Facility, excellent service, Valet Parking, good but not great food at above-deserved prices. Comfortable with quiet areas as well others to enjoy TV programming at your request such as a football party. Hors-d'oeuvres were very good! Will return for different entrees...Hi Dave thanks for your comments and your visit we hope to see you soon!

Hay varias sucursales en Xalapa, Veracruz. Es de los mejores sitios de carne en que he estado.
The menu is nice enough, Cuts from Argentina, Brazil and the States. All served with beans, guacamole and potatoes. You'll find some soups, salads and smaller plates on the menu as well. THe service is fast and friendly and prices OK, but the place is a bit generic and has TVs, a big no-no in my book! The food lacks the care and creativity to lift it above ordinary.

Un buen lugar para comer en pésima ubicación, la plaza gourmet es pequeña y fea, por lo que mata la idea de visitar un lugar pegado aun mercado publico de verduras, buena atención y comida, pésima elección que lo abrieran en un espantoso lugar.
