Refer to Vancouver Island as Victoria Island and risk a chorus of eye-rolls from the otherwise-friendly locals. Yes, Victoria is the main city on the island, but there are many distinct flavors to its logging and fishing settlements. Food and wine enthusiasts flock to the Comox Valley farm region, while the more outdoorsy types get their fix along the remote, forested beaches of North Vancouver Island. Visit the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve at Clayoquot Sound and you’ll return full of cocktail-party factoids.

The hotel is pretty dated but in a good location for people who want to travel to nanaimo. The bethroom fans in initial room is not working. So we contact the concierge, he is very friendly and assist us to change to new room. Unfortunately that the air conditioner is not working properly for the second room either. So we end up to change room twice. Other than the room problem, everything else is awesome. Customer service attend to out need right away and assist us with room change and offer discount when we check out. Overall we are still pretty satisfy.

We have stayed here several times over the last few years. Love when we get an upgrade with a harbour view! But our last stay, we noticed a lot of wear and tear in the room and there was dust on the lamps etc! They could use a renovation but I would miss staying there!

55-room boutique hotel and spa opened in May 2007. Located on the waterfront in the charming seaside town of Sidney, British Columbia on Vancouver Island - just 10 minutes from the Victoria International Airport, BC Ferries to Vancouver, and Washington State Ferries to Anacortes, Washington. 30 minute drive to downtown Victoria. Complimentary use of 24 hour Fitness Centre. 3 Meeting/Function rooms for groups up to 60 people.
The hotel was not close to full so why we got put in a room beside the elevator and right above the street is beyond me. There must have been similar rooms at least on higher floors. I booked direct with the hotel so I wasn’t on a discounted rate from a booking service. At check out I was told to ask next time for a better room. I worked at a hotel in Victoria before leaving the island, so I know the hotel can be proactive and move guests to quieter rooms when not full. It’s just lazy on the hotels part to not check which rooms have been allocated and what’s available that might be quieter for example. For $250/night I expected better. Room was clean and spacious though, just loud. Great location too.

We weren't here long enough to enjoy all this hotel has to offer or the location. We arrived late on the ferry and left the following day to continue our trip. Pros: Very clean Quiet Comfortable bed On the ocean Close to airport and ferry Breakfast in room (they are not doing hot breakfast yet so this is a continental breakfast to take to your room) Friendly front desk No cons Good value for the room rate. We will stay longer next time. Sidney looks like a nice little town to visit.

GREAT VALUE! - Offering large, clean, comfortable, Wi-Fi equipped guest rooms at an affordable price . All our rates include continental breakfast, free parking and free Wi-Fi. A coffee maker with free coffee and tea, fridge, cable TV, good Wi-Fi, hair dryer, and ironing facilities are provided in all guest rooms. VERY GOOD LOCATION! - Right across the street from St. Joseph Regional Hospital, 6 km from the Comox International Airport, 9 km from the Powell River Ferry, and 23 km from Mount Washington ski hill. The Valleys only marina and ocean walkway are within walking distance. Straight of Georgia and Beaufort Mountain views abound.
The breakfast was spartan, with items such as cold hard boiled eggs and toast. The rooms are carpeted with perhaps a little age. No real complaints but to be a 4 or 5 you expect a little more. An average "motel" type lodging.

Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort is the perfect place to start your Vancouver Island vacation. Located just 37 km north of Nanaimo, Parksville is situated in a spectacular natural setting, surrounded by beautiful beaches, mountains, lakes and rivers. At Sunrise Ridge pamper yourself with in suite features including top quality furnishings, soaker tubs, open and spacious kitchens, natural timber, stone, granite and stainless steel appliances.
Sunrise ridge is an active construction site. There is active drilling, beeping trucks at 745 am. The path to the beach is not accessible, not sure how they are getting away with advertising as a waterfront resort. The studio room we're in backs onto an electrical room; and they've put the head of the bed against the electrical room wall, meaning you buzz and vibrate all night long. Studio suites share an entrance and foyer with main suites, so you hear every word and entrance from your co-guests. This place is better for families with youngsters, but would not recommend for a quiet romantic getaway. Asked for a plunger three hours ago and still not able to use the toilet....
