In Mama's Bar & Bistro you can relax, order your favorite beer or cider along crispy nachos and seek out new friends. The bar operates in two floors, and often there's a band playing in the lower storey. The best choice if you want to listen to good music and hang out with pals.

We were a group of seven. One person got her food first. She had almost finished eating when the next two dishes arrived. The last four dishes came even later. I ate a hamburger that was very dry and with an almost black surface. It looked like a fabricated burger.

This is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Valkeakoski, run by a Chinese family. They serve a buffet table for lunch (I've never seen a sweet 'n sour gravy with meatballs before!), á la carte menu and take away. Dishes from take away menu are reasonable price from 5-6 euros. If you like hot and spicy, I recommend the Peking chicken with rice! They also can make the dish extra spicy if you ask. Friendly staff and nice & clean indoor decor.
P.S. The family has some small children, who often play in the restaurant, but they haven't ever bothered us.

This is a good pizza and kebab place and the prices are very reasonable. The Turkish guys sometimes mix up the orders a bit, though. The restaurant is pretty small with uncomfortable chairs (if you are not small or skinny, beware!), but they also have take out and Delivery. There's also some salads on the menu.

This place is nice variant to have lunch in the heart of Finland and to keep balance between meals and price.
All meat dishes were tasty as well as starters.
Cosy atmosphere and high level of hospitality.
The restaurant is placed very closely to town center.

We were somewhat pressed for time to have lunch here before a theatre matinee, but everything worked very smoothly, no rush at all in the end.
The food was mouth watering. Valkeakoski is a small town and you would not expect to find such excellent kitchen in a local restaurant. We skipped the starters, but for main course I had Pollo & "Saltimbocca", my wife had Pizza formaggio. The chicken was very tasty, came with a huge portion of "barley risotto", not my favorite but then again one does not need to finish the barley. The pizza must have been the best I've had in ages, and the portion was huge. We took almost half of it with us, had a good evening snack the next day. For desert, Cioccolate & salame was heavenly, I'm not a great fan of dark chocolate but this portion had the ingredients in perfect balance.
The decor imitates the (Finnish impression of) Italian bistro, red and white checkers in the tablecloth. Very cosy.
This is worth a visit from Tampere even without any other cultural activities.

When you go thru the manu of this restaurant you might think that Valkeakoski is full of codger. Jep, the restaurant had some vegetarian options, but other food was quite heavy stuff.
The idea of bacon burger did not make me happy, so I took the soup & salad option as a lunch. It had a lot of meat and filled the stomach quite quickly.

The place was almost full at lunch time which unfortunately meant empty trays in buffet. Sushi kept coming slowly and the first 2-3 persons in the queu emptied the tray, rest of the queu was left with nothing. However, once you managed to hunt a piece or two, the sushi itself was decent. Chinese food in the buffet was nothing special.
