Upper Sandusky Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Upper Sandusky

April 14, 2018 Jacquiline Darosa

Upper Sandusky is a city and the county seat of Wyandot County, Ohio, United States, along the Sandusky River. The population was 6,596 at the 2010 census. The city takes its name from an earlier Wyandot Indian village of the same name, which was located nearby. Upper Sandusky is rich in history. Its origins date back to the early 1780s. It was home to the Wyandotte Native Americans until 1842. Upper Sandusky became the Wyandot County seat in 1843. It was named "Upper" because it is located near the headwaters of the Sandusky River; Sandusky, Ohio is at the mouth of the same river, some 50 miles (80 km) away. The head of city government, as of 2013, is Mayor Scott Washburn.

Stopped in here after a football scrimmage. The server was very good and the place is typical of a small town restaurant. The food was average, nothing special. We did like their green beans. The mashed potatoes seemed like they were a little old. It's a neat place and worth the visit.

I wanted something good and needed to stop to stretch my legs. No line at all. I got it quickly and was back on the road.

We go here anytime we are in town visiting family. It is very relaxed and provides a nice meeting spot for small groups. The coffees are good and they have a decent supply of bagels, doughnuts, and muffins. Nice people.

We headed off the major thoroughfare after reading wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor.

1. No one mentioned this is a hole in the wall establishment with 2-3 tables. Ok, we just split up between 2 tables.

2. After going through the process of deciding on what we wanted, the guy at counter told us they were too busy to accommodate us. I will give him kudos for not letting us sit for ages with no food appearing. But, why not say do when 7 walked in the door

3. Please, if you review and a place that is just carry out, say so. Makes me wonder if the reviews were "made up"

4. Thankful a name brand pizza eatery was down the street!

Because this restaurant has no competition in this small city people still come here. However if this restaurant was in a bigger city with competition, the manager would of been fired long ago. A restaurant takes on the personality of the manager, and this restaurant says "take it or leave it".. the food is good and some of the waitresses are sweet, the restrooms are simply gross. The carpet needs updated. Don't you dare come in to the restaurant right before they close, the behavior and treatment that all staff leaves you feeling is less like friends or family...isn't that Bob Evans moto??

Don Tomasso's Pizza

This establishment recently opened and quickly became my favorite pizza in all of Wyandot County, Ohio. The crust is perfect. The sauce and toppings are all flavorful and the pizzas have just the right amount of cheese. I have heard the sandwiches and other menu items are also very high quality. The prices are just a little higher than the competition, but I don't even think about price with them.
Don't plan on eating in, though. I think there are only 2 tables and they are usually filled with people waiting to pick up an order to take home. The owner was previously the head chef at a high end restaurant in Columbus,Ohio, and decided to bring his talents to our small town. Thanks, and I'll be back often.

This is not gourmet Chinese food, but for the location they do a nice job. We've eaten here for lunch and once picked up a large order to go. The lunch was plentiful and very inexpensive. The take out order was done very quickly and properly. With few choices in a smaller town, this is a nice change of pace.

This pizza was super good, loaded with topping (extra cheese not necessary--tons of cheese!). Thinnish crust, classic sauce and cut in squares! Guy who worked there however seemed unhappy with the world...too bad dude. Definitely recommended. No chain compares! No seating available, so if you pick-up, drive down to Harrison Smith Park and enjoy your pie al fresco! Also opens at 4pm so no lunch option.
