Mary McBride's - The Little Black Door

When visiting this beautiful seaside village - do NOT miss a visit to one of Ireland's smallest pubs - Mary McBride's.....say hello to owners Cormac and his sister Fiona while enjoying a pint of Guinness and chatting with one or two of the locals. This pu

One of the places where you can get food and drink, its a very small pub near the bridge, very quaint and with a newer feature which is one of the Game Of Thrones doors. You can get a 'Passport' for the doors and you get a stamp at each of them when you visit each one spread over Northern Ireland. This one is about Arias journey. The doors were carved from trees from the 'Dark Hedges' which blew over in a storm.

We had dinner and breakfast here. Dinner was in a busy, fully booked dining room with a sea view; breakfast was served in a lonely, dark back room whereas sea view tables were empty - we were the only overnight guests.

Matties Meeting House

Reviewed By RebeccaYOW

Mattie’s Meeting House is a local hang out just a short stroll up the road from Ballycairn House. We were lucky to get a reservation, as it was almost fully booked. We spent an unforgettable evening at the warm, traditional country pub. My husband and I quenched our thirst after a long day of adventuring with pints of Guinness and Magners, enjoyed Mattie’s mouthwatering Guinness Pie, and sang along with the talented local musicians who played the guitar, banjo, fiddle, recorder, and piccolo and accepted requests all evening. They were extremely friendly to our children who stayed up far after their bedtime enjoying the live music. It was so amazing that we returned the following night, and by that time we were old friends!

We were blown away by the quality of the food, the presentation (especially the starters!), the service (extremely welcoming host) and the overall value of our experience. I've been going to this bar & Restaurant ( The Loft) regularly for at least the last 10 years, many times each year when visiting our local caravan. Great craic and very reasonable prices, it's great to have this facility and never disappoints. Try a 'Paddy's Diamond' cocktail if you want something different .

Called into Londonderry Arms yesterday 12th Feb and enjoyed the special breakfast menu which runs up to 12 o'clock. 5 piece fry for £3.95 including tea/coffee. Basket of toast can be ordered for £1.00. Best value breakfast in lovely surroundings and with an open fire to add to the pleasure. Recommend a visit if passing along the Coast Rd at Carnlough.
