Really enjoyed our meal today for lunch. We visited early afternoon 2-3pm ish. The restaurant and bar area were both busy which was a good start. They managed to accommodate us for a table for 4 without a booking. Our server, Joe was personable, friendly and welcoming. My partner and I shared a plate of nachos (which were homemade and absolutely delicious), chunky cheesy chips and also a pepper and chorizo scotch egg, which Joe informed us was brand new on the menu today. Overall it was a delicious meal, all of us had a great time. Friends from out of town were impressed with the lovely decor, countryside location and great food. Iâd thoroughly recommend and will be going back in the future.

Went for a meal for 4. One of our party cannot, for medical reasons, eat bloody steak. We asked for her steak to be more cooked than the Crown's standard medium rare. The chef refused point blank to cook anything other than medium rare as it would not taste as good. Who is the customer please? The chef feels he has the right to refuse to cook in the way a customer prefers! To rub salt in the wound steak order was changed to a beef burger and we were then asked how we wanted it cooked. Anything from rare to well done was fine for a burger. Astonished at the attitude to a customer's preference .

The food and service have been pretty good recently but the menu seems to have gone too fancy. Spicy harissa lamb was not just rare it was uncooked and wasnât really spicy. Tried hard with the fish pie but I succumbed finally to the lack of seasoning and abundance of dill. After reading all the reviews we were really excited to go here for lunch.....and it did not disappoint! Amazing food and wonderful service. It was lovely to enjoy the food outside in the sun. It was so good weâve already booked to go back again later in the week!

Not knowing the area well we went to the restaurant for advice on walks in the area. They were very helpful and we went back for lunch after our walk. Very good food, well presented and prepared and reasonable prices with friendly service. Would strongly recommend if in the areaThank you for leaving us this lovely review, we are certainly blessed with some fantastic local walks, and we have route maps which all start and end at the pub and also ordnance survey maps to show other routes.We are so pleased that you enjoyed your lunch and hope to see you again when you are out walking in the area.
