We called in by chance on a Saturday lunchtime. Went for chicken and salmon salads. The salads were rather crisp and tasteless and the potato slices were on the chilly side. However good coffee and over 60s get a reduction of 20% on the food element. I have to say that the place looks recently decorated and has a conservatory and outside eating area. We were made to feel welcome and probably would go back.

Wonderful food,meat perfect banoffee to die for. Well impressed by care for two disabled people. Parking close to entrance, even table service. First visit but not the last by any means. Thanks to lovely helpful staff. Highly recommended. Weĺl worth the money and gòod value.

Pop in to plough inn on Sunday evening for family dinner , my steak pudding was nice but my wife had chicken and ham hock pie which was below par ! , my daughter had basil pasta which again was below wot we expected ! , first pint of fullers ale not great â¹ï¸I am confused firstly pesto pasta can be nothing other than what it says pasta and pesto sauce a simple dish so I am unsure what you were expecting but apologize if you did not enjoy , your pie is one of our best sellers so again I am bemused as to why you would say nothing at the time but instead wait and post a negative review on this forum and finally your pint of Fullerâs we have only tried the fullers Oliverâs island for the first time this week it is clearly not to your taste but I have sold the entire barrel so proof is in the pudding so to speak I am the first to raise my hands if something is genuinely wrong but misconception of what a dish is is not grounds for a negative review but I do thank you for taking the time to write your review but I would rather you had said something at the time and then I could have dealt with it accordingly. Country pubs these days often have an exterior that implies olde world charm inside but on entering you find all original features have been ripped out, open plan cafeteria style and a cold atmosphere. Not this one. Higgledy piggledy floors, wooden furniture and beams (duck). Back this up with a nice welcome and a good selection of real ales and I was in heaven already. We arrived unannounced 5pm on a Sunday. It was virtually empty but there were a lot of staff on duty. Not long after we arrived the pub began to fill up. A pint of Whistable went down very well (had to have another later). My pot of moules mariniere were plump and absolutely delicious (although I prefer the onion chopped small rather than large slices). Clean plates for the rest of our group and onto desserts, all polished off. The bill was very reasonable. Staff efficient and friendly and by the time we left there was a good atmosphere. Would call in regular if we lived here although we made a 40 mile round trip to visit this time from our holiday accommodation.

I visited here with my wife and two young sons (3&5)Great menu, the food was fantastic and the staff were brilliant with the two boys, chatting away to them.grown ups had the lasagna with Chips and Salad which was brilliant and very filling, the kids had sausage, chips & beans,potion sizes for all where well worth the money!Total including drinks came to somewhere in the region of £40

I booked in 29 friends and family for Sunday lunch for a special birthday. Madeleine was brilliant in taking all our orders beforehand. With her experience of such occasions, she helped by making sure I put a name by each order so her staff knew who was due to have what. Inevitably weâd all forgotten what weâd ordered. Her staff were so patient with all of us and we had a great time. I canât recommend them highly enough. Thank you so much for choosing us to help your celebrate a special birthday! We very much enjoyed you and your guest's visit to us. We very much appreciate your comments on our staff service and also for the recommendation. Have a lovely year and hope to see you again.

My son and I were visiting the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway for the day and l was looking for somewhere to have lunch and after seeing previous reviews decided to walk here We were not disappointed the food was amazing we both had the bacon & onion pudding off the specials board with mash and three lovely vegetables. We are also real ale lovers and l allways try to find a pub with local beers so this was ideal as we had a few pints of excellent Master Brew & Spitfire

Went for the first time Saturday night. Very old pub in small village. There is a snooker table right by the bar which had a noisy crowd although not the fault of the pub. Three tables ordering food but still waited three quarters of an hour before our order was taken and onother hour before it actually arrived. The food when we eventually got it was very good. All veg was fresh and pies looked home made. The meals are extremely large though so wouldnât advise having a starter. Unfortunately nobody came back to ask if we wanted desserts or coffees until we prompted them. On saying that, staff were friendly when you finally got to see them.

Have been here several times now and never disappointed.Food is cooked to order, always nice and hot, tastes great and plentiful.All meals are named as planes or airport related i.e. Gipsy Moth etc.And the view of the planes or helicopter taking off is a bonus too.

This pub/hotel, like so many, in remote coastal regions, is struggling to survive but if the staff have their way its future will be safe. It's like an old suit, a bit threadbare but still usable. We pre-booked for a Sunday carvery and enjoyed the food and the experience very much. There was a fair few customers that Sunday and all seemed very content to be there. A decent Sunday lunch cost under a tenner and all in my party agreed it was a good wholesome English roast. The staff were friendly and chatty and eager to serve.If you happen to be in that neck of the woods, it's in Lydd High Street with plenty of parking, pop in and try it. I wish them well at the George as they fight their rearguard action against the decline of the great English pub.
