Saffron's is very conveniently at the end of both Fore Bondgate and Back Bondgate. Our location is in the historic part of Bishop Auckland with easy access to parking facilities and disabled parking outside. Our restaurant is also equipped with a disabled
We had an amazing meal tonight with 3 other couples. The food was great, the prices were reasonable, and the service was absolutely amazing - and this is where the issue occurred. The tips do not go to the waiting staff as we have come to expect in most restaurants. This restaurant keeps them for themselves. We all agreed that the waiting staff - who had made our visit there comfortable, easy and fun by running up and down those stairs several times for food and drink orders - should be the ones receiving tips for THEIR good service. Please look to revising this practise as soon as possible, and customers should always ask what the tipping policy is at this or any restaurant. Massive thanks to the 2 female waiting staff who made our evening a wonderful one!

What a great experience! We visited on Saturday night. We hadnât booked and arrived early and were lucky enough to get a table. On arrival, we told the waiter about my husbandâs allergy to cowâs milk and the staff were amazing. The chef came out of the kitchen to advise us on the dishes we could eat and she offered to take our order to ensure that we selected options that were free from cowâs milk. The food arrived and we were not disappointed. The popadoms, onion bhajis, tandoori king prawns, prawn dupiaza and prawn madras were absolutely delicious. The staff even made my husband his own parathas bread made from oil rather than butter. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. It is great to find a restaurant with employees that really care. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you very much for a fantastic experience!

Ordered chicken tikka Rogan Josh described as medium to hot - OMG it wasnât even mild! It smelt off!!!! My wife ordered Chicken Tikka Masala which in here own words âthis is very poor and doesnât taste like masalaâ. We will definitely not be going back to this restaurant again.
As far as takeaway's that deliver the rose is one of the better ones around here. They are very good at ballyhoo sorry. That's Google keyboard for you it just predicted ballyhoo when I wanted to type balti. Any way they do good versions of that but sometimes just to much food colouring in the likes of a chicken tikka masala. They never used to be bright red when I was a lad. Overall I chose this place most often. Quite a lot really.

Recommend by friends for being the best around slightly disappointed with our first order, unable to contact the restaurant by email unless I went via Facebook. No Facebook account so just left it. No lamb korma had too get lamb tikka korma or something like that the onion Bajis were small, the lady taking the orders was very friendly polite as was was the chap serving with the beard. Hopefully weâll get too try again
