We thought we would go for my birthday meal. We went to the counter/bar to ask for our booking. We were told the table in the corner was ours. We were given 4 sheets of A4 paper with the menu on. I have to confess that I thought it gave you WW points, I actually commented to the lady taking our order, that I did not understand it was the price. Mixed grill was £21. Even though the order was taken for the steak to be medium to well done, it wasn't on the plate. It did take a minute or so to realize, as the plate was searchable. Everything was just "on" the plate. It was a limited menu as they explained, due to running out of food the previous day. Bank holiday weekend is always a busy time. When we mentioned the missing item, a small plate was placed by the original mixed grill order. It wasn't cooked as requested. The staff were busy cleaning tables, so we didn't speak to anyone again. We asked for a desert menu, while our plates were cleared away. After 20 minutes we asked for the bill and left. Sorry, but I don't feel you have improved anything.

Visited here the night of European Championship as had friends and wanted some peace to chat!! Wow is it peaceful. A great real pub even got the old fashioned pub smell of beer - yes beer not your fancy rubbish stuff so many drink now. Good beer good customers good member of staff and a nice peaceful pint with real conversation. Sat outside on the banks of the River Dee as the sky darkened. Really ace view and calmness. Loved it.

Elephant Bank is both a modern and authentic relaxed restaurant. That means we base our dishes on the classic Italian tastes and we are always looking for Italian ingredients that represent the sides of Italy that most local people may not know. Elephant

The Ship

Located on The Parade which, many years ago, used to be a busy waterfont with ships anchoring on the Quay, only yards from the front door. The Ship now has a view over the silted up estuary of the River Dee, and a thriving wild life sanctuary, to the hils of Wales. With plenty of off road car parking, the pub has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and is obviously popular. When we arrived at noon it was virtually empty, but within half an hour there was hardly a spare table available in the cozy bar area. With a good local beer, and a wide range of gins, whiskies and other spirits, complemented by a reasonable wine selection there was sufficient to meet most tastes, whilst the food menu was reasonably varied with a number of home made items. The home made fish pie was great, but spoilt by the undercooked and almost cold vegetables, stringy mange tout and difficult to cut cauliflower. The sticky toffee pudding was, again, first class, the service staff were cheerful and willing, ut The Ship could 'up its game' in certain aspect of the food offering.Dear John T,We are sad to hear we did not provide you with the best possible experience. Lack of focus, carelessness and indifference is not what we are known for. We are sorry your experience was not reflective of our reputation. In future a manager on duty would happily change your veg if you prefer it to be cooked more. Our veg generally gets cooked al dente so as it retains all it's nutrients, but we appreciate different people have different tastes. It is thanks to feedback like yours that we can tackle issues that may impact our most valuable asset, our customers. Thanks again for your honest feedback,The Ship Management

We always love to pop and have a meal here. The only issue we have, and only reason we don't visit more often, is because they still don't cater for people like myself and a friend, who prefer a cold meal such as a Caeser Salad, or Salmon with a salad for health and dietary reasons. I don't feel because you go out in the evening to eat, you have to have hot food.Dear Cae61,thank you for taking the time to review The Celtic Arms.It is lovely to hear that you enjoy the food here at The Celtic and that you visit on a regular basis. We will take your comments on board in regards to offering a wider variety of cold dishes, if you ask a member of staff or management we will be able to do this for you as all of our staff are very keen to meet any requests that you have.We hope to see you again very soon.

Visited this evening with my partner and my mum for her birthday, enjoyed a lovely meal! Young blonde lady on the bar was really friendly and helpful, and another lady joined her later in the evening and she was equally friendly and helpful. Partner and I had the pie, which was lovely and no soggy bottom in sight! Chips were lovely and we shared some onion rings. My mum has the cheese toasted sandwich and, although she didn’t finish it (she has a tiny appetite!), she thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely evening; good, value for money food, good service and good company

I rang to book a table the night before wanting a table and was assured all OK. So table 8 in the conservatory at 7pm, a table for 2 with a lovely view. It was our wedding anniversary so this seemed perfect. On arriving we were told other people were eating at our table (about half way through!) so we could either have a large table for 6 in the conservatory or sit in the bar again on another large table. We were also told others might be joining us! The more we thought about this we got quite upset and decided to wait for 'our table' So after about 15 minutes we were told our table was ready although it was sticky from spilt drink so I had to cover it with my napkin. We decided on having the fish and chips, said to be the best place in the area for this meal. However there was no fish left it had just been ordered just before we had our table. So we changed our choice reluctantly and it was good food although we did feel very dissatisfied with the service, we weren't even offered a complimentary drink as way of apology. To sum up then if you want fish and chips then book an early table.
