Toronto Hotels | Places to Stay in Toronto

One of the most multi-cultural and multi-faceted cities in the world, Toronto is a welcoming cosmopolitan community. Its urban sprawl of city blocks, skyscrapers, modish cafes, chic shops, and up-till-dawn clubs is balanced by an expansive network of parklands, beaches, lakes and recreational facilities. It always has its thumb to the pulse, with something new going on or being built, and an overall energetic vibe. Ethnically diverse, the city has a vivacious cross-section of options when it comes to dining, entertainment, festivals, and events. Whether you're attracted by vintage cinemas and antiquing, hiking trails and river rafting, or luxury shopping and spa weekends, Toronto has you covered. Best of all, it preserves its history while also being thoroughly modern, with streets going from contemporary cool to Victorian in under a minute. The city is a fun amalgamation every step of the way!

Disappointed. Top dollar prices but most of the facilities were unavailable.

Reviewed By Mike P

We booked three nights in the Radisson Blu, a couple of weeks ago at the beginning of our recent Canadian holiday. It looked great on the web site and was very well located for the wedding that we attended on the first Saturday of our trip. Accommodation costs in downtown Toronto are sky high and the Radisson Blu was no exception. We justified the cost to ourselves by the sumptuous facilities that had been advertised, and still are advertised at this property. When we arrived, we were extremely disappointed to find that the advertised leisure facilities were all closed. We had not been previously advised that the roof top pool would be closed and the restaurant and bar alongside also being unavailable. There was no reduction in the price because of this. No apology. No excuse. No cost reduction. In addition, for much of our stay, only one of the two lifts that serve the bedroom floors was serviceable. We sometimes had to wait a long while for the lift to arrive. On checking in, the front desk took quite a hefty "security deposit" from my credit card and when we got to our room, there was a large gouge in the door jamb where somebody must have used a gemmy to try to force entry. The room safe did not work and I took a photo of the door damage as I did not want to be held responsible for it. I went back to the reception desk and thankfully a lady who was in charge took ownership of our problem. I was unhappy about the room and I was unhappy that despite having paid full price, the advertised facilities were not available. We had not received any previous notification that this would be the case. She moved our room and gave us some vouchers for breakfast (if you could call it that) in the Starbucks-like coffee shop in the foyer. Top dollar hotel, breakfast out of cardboard cups and disposable cutlery but our thanks are sent to this member of staff who endeavoured to make matters better. In fairness, the pool was re-opened on the second day of our stay and very nice it was too. The bar/restaurant alongside remained closed for the duration of our stay. That was not the end of the problems with this property. It is clear that little attention is given towards the day to day maintenance of the place. In our second room, we found the safe was working, but had been left locked. The front desk called "engineering" and it took them nearly 24 hours to respond. There were trivial things around and about that could have easily been fixed, for example the handles on the glass door to our shower were rattling loose, the fridge unit in our room had a wonky door and as said, one of the two lifts was out of service for much of our stay. Having a good technician on site, with an attention to detail could have made the place so much better. Finally, our concerns about security. Having seen clear evidence of an attempted break in to a room, this caused some worry. There was a full time security person in the lobby which, the need for it in itself is a cause for concern. A different person every day, but never once were we challenged or checked by them as we came and went. So, would I recommend the Radisson Blu? It is very good for location but did not provide what was advertised and was rapidly becoming dilapidated and shabby. They charged top prices but did not come up with the goods or service to reflect that cost. We felt ripped off. There are lots of upmarket hotels in the vicinity and my advice would be to give the Radisson Blu a wide berth and if you need to stay downtown, go to one of the others instead. I won't be returning.

Clean room, comfy beds, fun pool

Reviewed By SunandSand34

The rooms were clean and lots of towels and toiletries provided. Lovely view from the room. The scenic elevator is neat. Check in was efficient, no concerns with staff who were always polite and smiling. Convenient location. If there over the weekend skip the valet parking and park yourself, rates current as of April 2022 were 20.00 for 24 hrs 7am to 7am. Coffee makers in room. The pool was open at night so it was nice to swim inside/outside and look at the CN tower in the dark as you can see it from the pool. My one comment about something not so great was the “mini-fridge” it was more like a bar fridge and kept things barely cool, not really cold if you’re looking to store leftovers like we were. Not sure if ours was broken or whether this is common for the bar fridge with glass door type ones. I would definitely stay here again.

The House is wonderful. Extremely clean- lovely rooms and friendly staff! It’s also in a great neighbourhood- Yonge St is right there and there’s tons of food and shopping options. The building itself doesn’t scream HOTEL- which we enjoyed- we liked that we looked less like tourists and more like locals. We ate at the Constantine and it was delicious. The staff there are incredibly friendly will definitely stay there again.

Toronto 2022

Our original plan was a trip to Niagara Falls, which btw, we loved. Toronto was a last minute thing for a quick 2 night trip. The city is very clean and busy but walkable and feels completely safe even at night. We did the city bus tour which is good if you're short on time but definitely not cheap at $60 per person. You can use the ticket for 24 hours as a hop-on hop-off transport but the busses wind down around 4:30 pm. A trip to St Lawrence Market is a must for good food, and a half mile walk from there to the distillery district has great little shops, restaurants and live music. In all, we're happy we made the trip and could see another visit someday.

Underwelmed

Great location but service, room and food very disappointing, the food at the hotel was probably the worse I have had in almost 15 years at a business meeting. Front desk help was inaccurate and there was no concierge to provide correct information. Hotel says they have not ramped up staffing…no longer reasonable excuses when maintaining higher room rate prices. Asked for a quiet room on reservation months ahead of my stay and then I called the morning of to confirm and was told that my request had been fulfilled. At check in I reconfirmed again. When I got to my room I was put right in front of the ice machine and then was told no other rooms to move me to. This proved to be a very loud room with security called for parties getting their ice at late hours. I travel with marriot personally being a bonvoy member but I would choose a non bonvoy hotel rather than stay here again.
