Dream a Dream Premier Iditarod Kennel

Reviewed By TubaKoseogluOkcu - Istanbul, Turkey

We, as a large group, spent almost a half day at this Kennel during our Alaskan trip and it was not a very memorable experience.

Though our host was very kind and very helpful, the overall experience was quite boring. We started with a briefing about kennels and races. It was interesting at first but it lasted too long and way to many details were shared. Then we visited the area. The host even let us visit his own private house, which was a nice gesture indeed.

Then we took a short walk in the woods where the major problem started: the mosquitoes!! Despite the repellers, they were all around, in our nose, ears, mouth.. it was very very annoying. Then we started to have tours with the dogs. In winter, it must be a great experience, I had done it in Lapland, Finland and it was the most thrilling activity. But doing it in summer, with wheels, it just feels like torture to dogs and it's not fun at all.

After the tour with the huskies, we came back to the premises where an open buffet lunch was waiting for us and mosquitoes were already all over the meals and on top of it, couple of dogs were also eating from the open buffet prepared for us.

It was indeed not a great experience at all. I'm sure in winter when there is snow around, this place must be dreamy but in summer, it was unbearable.

Offers tours of the kennel operated by 4-time Iditarod champion

This was our first stop on a tour of Alaska. We are a family of 4 with 2 preteens. This was one of my family's favorite stops. Martin Buser, a 4 time Iditarod champion, is the owner and the guide for this encounter. He is very enthusiastic and upbeat. I learned a good deal about the Iditarod and the care of the dogs used for the race. Definitely glad we stopped here.

We took the Legends Alaska small plane tour from Willow to The Knik Glacier. The trip could not have been better. Our pilot, Walt, was knowledgeable and informative. He attended to our comfort at all times. Walt pointed out the sight and made sure we saw wildlife as well. The views on the way to and from the glacier were absolutely fantastic. The Knik Glacier was a short hike from where we landed and the view was amazing. We saw dall sheep and moose during the flight. Walt is a great pilot and tour guide. I highly recommend this trip!

My family of 5 adults loved this dog sled ride during December 2014! The ride goes through the prettiest forest area, along the Iditarod Trail, in Willow. Our guide/driver, Christina, was a wonderful young woman who answered all of our questions and was fun to be with. Since it is a small, family-owned company, the service was very personal and perfect. Overall, this is an experience you shouldn't miss!

Dan has taken me fishing for going on 20 years. As a salmon guide, he is extremely knowledgeable. He knows the water he guides on and he knows what the fish want. He uses good tackle and effective fishing technique. My friends and have caught kings (chinook) and silvers (coho) under his guidance. His boating skills are top notch and safety is paramount. I'm looking forward to fishing with him again, soon.

Double E Kennels

Reviewed By polarbreeze - Eagle River, Alaska

We were able to experience a dog sled tour with Double E Kennels today and it was the most amazing Alaska experience. The operators Alan and Tanjala Eischens, could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The dogs were happy, friendly and obviously excited to be pulling the sleds. Once we were loaded in the sleds the dogs could not wait to get going. After one circuit we switched places and now I was mushing. The snow was perfect. The scenery was amazing. The entire experience was amazing.

That was my nephews statement from today's experience. While visiting from Tennessee, we arranged for my brother and his son to have a dog sled tour. The experience could not have been better.

Kashwitna Lake

Nice lake in the middle of Doggie-ville USA. From the hill near the hardware store in Willow north you will begin to get some good views of Denali. The best ones seem to be in winter with the sun in the south and the sky is free from dust & pollen.
