St. Margaret Church

Reviewed By menq - Bucharest, Romania

Saint Margaret Church is an iconic building of this city especially for its beautifully decorated and leaned main tower, called the Trumpeters Tower and as well for the Bells Tower.
The interior is typical gothic and with some frescoes on the walls and along with the carpet collection makes it a place not to be missed in an enigmatic city like Medias.

Biertan Fortified Church

Reviewed By CircleTheWorld - Chicago, Illinois

Saxon fortified church of Şaroş pe Târnave, built in the 14th century. Surrounded by two layers of wall. Partially-restored wood-paneled interior. Ask the guide to show you the sacristy door, with its hardwood finish and elaborate locking mechanism. About 30 minutes west of Sighisoara, depending on traffic. Worth the detour for its unique fortified construction.

Prohibition Pub

Prohibition Pub, during it's five years of existence has become the reference point for Medias the hometown of a lot of smart and receptive people. Between different landlord it finally arrived in the hand of 2 friends whose challenge in succeeding and to innovate the night life of their hometown, made them take this bet and get behind the bar :)

Medias Synagogue

Reviewed By salita - berkeley

Medias' 1896 (Ashkenazi) Synagogue is a must see, extremely important Jewish religious and cultural site. It badly needs to be restored (as the Brasov Synagogue has been) and the fact that people with the money to carry out the work haven't yet taken care of this & funded this project is simply wrong & tragic. With everything that Romanian Jews experienced in WWII, these reminders of Romania's flourishing Jewish past are priceless in their importance. This Synagogue ought to be a key visitors spot for tourists to Transylvania, but it won't meet that potential until its restoration is carried out.

Franciscan Church and Monastery

Reviewed By Dariana2 - Constanta

The compound includes a monastery, the church and various annexes. According to monastic records construction began in 1444. In 1556, after the formerly-Catholic townspeople joined the Reformation, the monks were run out of town, and the buildings were used for various lowly purposes, such as stables, etc. In 1721, the buildings and the site were returned to the Franciscan order . After renovations, the church, originally of Gothic architecture, gained Baroque stylings on the inside, and the other buildings were re-built as needed.
Is truly beautiful and worth seeing

Just back from Transilvania, in Romenia, I have to share this unique experience. I discovered a wonderful, friendly and cherful people and a green landscape full of medieval sites, i thought no longer existed.
The cities of Brasov, Sigishoara and Sibiu are jewels, as well as the medieval fortified churches, unique in Europe, that are spread in this saxon land.
The castle of Peles, in Sinaia, is a must and one of the 10 most beautiful Castles in Europe.

Steingasser Tower

The 8 medieval towers in Medias ( Bells Tower ,Taylors Tower , Goldsmiths Tower , Forkesch Tower, Mary's Tower, Steingasser Tower and the others ) are some of the most important sights of the town.

Reviewed By menq - Bucharest, Romania

The Bells Tower is part of the church's defensive system, standing as the main gate and is easily recognisable by its dark roof.
The decorations are not as spectacular like the main church's tower, the Trumpeters one, but still remains a recognisable symbol of this city, famous for its historic towers.
The tower is currently being restored, along with the church's garden and I don't think it can be visited inside at the moment.
