We had Carmello as our driver for a one week tour of Sicily. Carmello was wonderful. He was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about every stop. He had great suggestions of additional or alternative places to visit and knows every great little restaurant in whatever town you are visiting. Carmello parked as close as possible to each stop (for example in Segesta he parked at a side gate abutting the entry instead of the normal gate where you have to take a shuttle). He was always there exactly at whatever time you planned. Also, as we were touring privately, we of course could change our plans and times at will.
We were in a very clean and comfortable Mercedes sedan. There was always water and umbrellas available.
The guides were hit or miss which is to be expected. We had a very good guide in Palermo and an excellent guide in Agrigento who is an archeologist working at the Valley of the Temples when not guiding.
The office staff made the trip easy as everything was confirmed ahead of time.

We enjoyed a day trip to this beach - though we were visiting friends so we were just north of the 'free beach'. The water is refreshingly cool and was crystal clear. We saw more locals than tourists. The pebbles were a bit annoying to walk on, but water shoes could solve that. Note it gets shady here early because of the mountain behind you.

When you are in Letojanni, you cannot miss this nice, small but attractive square with Cathedral. It is unique experience because you will meet locals there. I was amazed how regularly they visit the Cathedral which is open till late night. There are several coffees and one great galateria - Niny. Also, you can always have a seat on some benches and enjoy your time!

On the outside this looks a very ordinary reasonably old church but it has been refurbished in a traditional style with a very modern twist. Walls are modern sparkly mosaics. It is well worth a visit. I was there the week before Easter when the church was open all day every day for 'Holy Week' It may well only be open for services the rest of the year but it is well worth a visit. I went several times in that week. On Good Friday there was local procession round the streets from the church carrying statues. a normal parochial practice not for the tourists and it was lovely.

Federica was simply fantastic! My husband and I were invited into Federica's home for a private, delicious, authentic cooking class. Federica taught us how to cook a four course Sicilian meal paired with wine. This was such an enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend this cooking class for anyone who wants an authentic Sicilian experience!

Bar Pasticceria IL Veliero

Reviewed By AlexeevIgor - Moscow, Russia

Bar Pasticceria IL Veliero...
