Bhimkund Waterfall

Reviewed By Kumar M - Bokaro Steel City, India

Great Hindu epic Mahabharata links Bhimkund with Pandavas. Tired and weary under the hot scorching sun, Draupadi fainted of thirst. Bhima, the strongest of the five brothers, hit the ground with his gada water surged out and the pool came into being. The depth of this pool is believed to be measureless. The pool is a lovely indigo blue which contrasts well with the red stone walls. There are some caves around it but no one has been adventurous enough to find out where they lead. Bhimkund is a beautiful natural water Reservoir on the River Baitarani. It is located exactly on the boundary line between the districts Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, at a distance of about 100 km from Keonjhar.

Gonasikha Temple

Reviewed By sugato_11 - Bhubaneswar, India

Its a religious place. It is the origin of the river Baitarini. Two small streams of water originate from the earth through a cow's nostril (thus the name Go - nasikha). Approximately 10 kms off the National Highway, the ride to this place is beautiful during spring and monsoons. The surrounding areas give sweeping views of the valley and adjoining hills.
Do visit if you have religious bent of mind, else avoid.
There is also a temple on the same road (a minor deviation) - Guptaganga Temple. The river Baitarani after its origin from Gonasikha goes underground and again comes up here.
