Idalvo's Restaurante

Place is not fancy, fish/shrimps/prawns/lobster is fresh, portions are generous, price is high. Place gets good reviews in local press.Place was picked by our hosts in the region, who patronize Idalvo's occasionally. They ordered a paella for four, which came with a spiny lobster and a large quantity of pretty large prawns.I have pretty much given up on prawns/shrimps in most of the world. Hard to get anything that's not farmed, frozen, that at best tastes like eggs. We did however enjoy our prawns at Idalvos. I could not tell if they were farmed or sea-caught, likely the former. But at least they were fresh and taste was fine. We would not cook the sea food as much as they do. However I couls see that local standards might differ from ours, and obviously cooking a bit more is safer.Paella: rice was fine, acidity was right. We also enjoyed the hot pepper that's on the tables in very large, layered containers. Here pepper is in oil, not in vinegar, as I would normally expect in Brazil. From previous experiences, I half expected that I might get sick, given that pepper staying in ambient temperature on the tables can easily turn into an ideal environment for bacteria to be happy. Still, I took a chance; I did not get sick. Mussels on the paella were half shell frozen; not impressed by the mussels. As typical with frozen mussels, they were way overcooked. Portions are so big that we ended up with about half the dish left. They charge for the doggy bag BTW. They also added a 10% service charge on the bill. With no wine (lunch followed by a long drive), two large beers for four and one water, four crab cakes (casquinha de siri) as appetizer, bill for the four of us came out around 440 Reais. About $220. Still, place was pretty full, it clearly enjoys a good reputation locally. It is very possible that they are the best place for shrimps in Campinas.Last comment: place is not centrally located, and the area is full of one way streets. We had no real difficulty finding them, but it would be a good idea either to use navigation, or to plan well the route to take getting there.Hello, bauwens! Thanks a lot for visit and rating us. We are pleased about this feedback because it is the only way to maintain our rating on the top. Hope to see you back soon.

We stopped by for a late lunch and opted for the "Executive" special. It includes soup or salad, choice of two different main dishes, dessert and a glass of wine. My salad was crisp and good. The Bacalhau (salted cod) is a very popular dish in Brasil, But Don Manoel cooks this traditional dish very well. I usually don't care to order dessert but it was included. The cabernet was pretty decent as well. The special is phenomenally priced! And you can pick up a bottle (or more) of wine to go. Better wine and prices compared to grocery stores.

Restaurante Rosario

Restaurante Rosário was one of the most famous restaurants in the city, in the 60's and 70's, due to its location downtown, near hotels, bars and cinemas. The "night life" has long be gone, nevertheless the restaurant is still the same and (probably) was renewed a couple of times. It serves honest food in a formal ambiente and is a good option for those days local customers want to go somewhere "new". It is never to full and acoustics has been taken care of. I hate loud places. The menu is international/Brazilian and the pricing very reasonable.I was there several times for a "chicken soup on a cold day!"

As you walk in to Olivetto you cannot help it notice all the wine. Wine bottles galore! So if you are a wine aficionado that should be enough reason to come to this very nice classy place. It is sort of Italian but the menu has more to chose from. My osso bucco was missing the bone. But it was really delicious. The pasta was not al dente but not too soft either. Of course we shared a bottle of red wine. Perfect place to bring that special someone.

I do not like the Coco Bambu restaurants outside their original region that is our Northeast. The one at this Mall has the same decoration as the others outside the Northeast region, like the Brasilia ones but very small compared with this last one.Food during a working week days on the Menu of the day (what they call: “Menu Executivo”), is a regular dish. For exemple: last time we ordered Shrimp for two on this Executive Menu, taste was ok but almost no shrimp just rice or pasta. But the price was cheap for two, like 70 reais.I do recommend it but with the regular items from the Menu that ranges from 130 till 200,00 reais for two. Both the seafood and fish’s are good.I recommend it. But the Idalvo’s Restaurant have more delicious seafood and fish, with equivalent prices, but is not as fancy like the Coco Bambu. We appreciate your feedback in order to improve our service level. At Coco Bambu, anywhere all over Brazil, we aim to deliver an excellent service level and we are disappointed to learn of your impression with us this time. We work very hard to ensure all of our guests are comfortable and expectations exceeded and, therefore, we hope you give us another chance to show you Coco Bambu is a restaurant that deserves your visit. Sit out by the patio and enjoys the fresh air. You can get three levels of rodizio, depending on the variety you desire. While the service and food are good, it got to be a bit repetitious as they would bring the same item around. I prefer to be able to order from a menu and choose my next course. Drinks were very good.Hello, how are you?Thank you for your visit and feedback. We are delighted to be able to receive you at our restaurant.
