Yemassee is a small Lowcountry town in Beaufort and Hampton counties in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 1,027 at the 2010 census. Yemassee is also very near the borders of Colleton and Jasper counties and is often considered to be the geographical center or heart of the Lowcountry region. The town is divided by the county line between Beaufort and Hampton counties, which follows the roadbed of the CSX railroad. Most of the town's population presently lies within Hampton County (as of 2006). As defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, the Beaufort County portion of Yemassee is included within the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton-Beaufort, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. Yemassee hosts one of the few commercial breeding facilities of non-human primates in the entire United States (Alpha Genesis, Inc.). Also, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Auldbrass Plantation house and outbuildings lie just outside the town limits of Yemassee.

Fletcher's Finds

Reviewed By GaryvM - Acworth, Georgia

My family (and 1 friend) had lunch at Fletcher's after my son's graduation from Parris Island, ad our friend knew of the place and it was on our way home.A great little place along the road!!!! Good food (I had a bacon cheeseburger), and the Squash Puppies appetizer are a must! They were very thankful for my son's service and gave him a free appetizer. Everything is very reasonably priced and everyone was very happy with their meals. My daughter had lemon cake that was very good. It was a very home cookin' kind of place with friendly service, smiles everywhere, and just a place we enjoyed. If we are back in this area, we would certainly return.

Harold's Country Club

Reviewed By BeanMiller - Charleston, South Carolina

About an hour from Charleston or Hilton Head, and you can choose the scenic side roads including right past the gorgeous Whitehall Plantation. Great Saturday excursion and a rustic, interesting spot once you arrive. Down home hospitality, with very friendly staff. We were there with 2 large parties and apparently on "steak night" you should order steak. We ordered chicken and although it was a generous portion, was dry. The meal includes a baked potato (the best part of the meal) basic mixed salad, roll and iced tea. Go for the ambiance, and know that even if your chicken is dry, it is worth the trip just to experience this unique spot!

Goes great with awesome wine bar! We had a sample of pizza during wine tasting. It was the perfect snack while enjoying the sampling at the campground. The campground was a great first time experience for our first time camping friends!
Clean campground and awesome staff.

Not the cleanest Waffle House I've been too. Actually had to move to a third table to find one not covered in syrup or something. There were no other customers there when we entered.
Food was excellent and the service was friendly and very efficient. Other than fast food, there was only one other option and that was Denny's. Denny's had horrible reviews on Trip Advisor so avoided.
I would eat here again.

Wendy's

This restaurant is right off of I-95, exit 33. It is next to BP gas Station and across the road from the Waffle House. The restrooms and dining area were clean. Employees were very friendly and not too long of a wait for my food. This location does not serve breakfast and is not open 24 hours. I posted a picture of the hours.

not sure when the last person ate here, but could have been Sherman himself. After detouring to Sheldon Church ruins, we followed directions to a vacant building. Too bad it is Sunday, or we would go to Harold's country club. That place looked interesting.
