My daughter and I wanted to grab a quick meal before heading out of town. Our salad bar was great, but we kept waiting and waiting for the personal pizza we were sharing. Then we started noticing other people that had come in after us receiving much larger orders. Finally I went up to the counter and was told "oh yea you were skipped, it's cooking now". No comp. No complimentary bread sticks while you wait. Hummmmm........

It’s so sad when a long standing establishment, with consistently good/great food is undermined by poor wait staff. It’s clear the family owners care about their business and don’t want customers to be unhappy, but they seem to struggle with holding employees to an acceptable standard. (Even after telling our table that they saw the poor service we received by the waitress/server, instead of confronting the employee and fixing the problem, they hope that apologies to customers is enough. - it’s not.)I’m sure with low unemployment in America it’s even harder for employers to get better employees. But as an avid “restaurant” family (we eat out all the time) a rude wait staff or one that views their customers as an intrusion and interruption on their day, rather than the reason why they have a job will ultimately undermine the business existence. Most restaurants don’t close for having bad food. Most restaurants close for having bad customer service. If the service improves, this long standing business in Vacaville will be around for another generation. If service does NOT improve, its only a matter of time until it no longer exists. I really hope they stay open, because we love this place!

While visiting California we stopped in at Pietros No.2 and wasn't disappointed. The complimentary garlic bread was delicious and true sour dough. The cheese tortellini with meat sauce was very good and plentiful but for me the pizza was the star of the evening. The crust is so yummy and the pepperoni was thick sliced and the real deal, not like you find at chain pizza places. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Our server was very nice and attentive so the evening was a great experience. The food is cooked to order so don't be in a hurry.

I first discovered Borgata Deli when I attended a function that was catered by the deli. It is a family-owned business. The sandwiches and salads were excellent. Served on your choice of bread (choose focaccia or ciabatta), eat is made to order with fresh ingredients. For vegetarians, they have the best caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. I am not a vegetarian but I love this sandwich. It is out of this world! And the bread tastes like it was made that morning!

First visit here and visited with our friends. The service was excellent, beer could be a bit colder, and the food was ok. The bread sticks are worth ordering, as they were very good. My penne Bolognese was just fair, as the sauce lacked any flavor. My wife's pizza, the Amici Combo, was pretty good. The bacon, however, over powered the flavor. Still a pretty good pizza.

Napoli has a family special: house/Caesar salad, garlic bread, pasta/spaghetti, and a pizza with 2 toppings for a discount price. The house salad was ok, a cross between antipasto and a garden salad. The Italian dressing was excellent. The garlic bread was fresh but needed more garlic, thankfully there was a shaker on each table with garlic powder to give it a boost. The penney pasta with red sauce was ok but not exciting. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza with olives added. It was excellent.

Olive Garden

Figured I would try the Olive Garden in Vacaville again since it's been a couple of years since my last meal there. Once again I left less than impressed. Service was fine, Seated at a comfortable table but the food was not very good. The salad was the star of the meal. Just a simple fresh green salad with Italian dressing. The bread sticks come out warm but get stale fast. Not sure why. Are they microwaved? I ordered a combo plate. The lasagna was bland and could have been any frozen lasagna from a cheap grocery store. The pasta was dry like it had been sitting too long and the alfredo sauce was nothing special. Last but not least the Chicken Parmagana. it looked and tasted like a prebreaded deep fried greasy piece of meat. It was topped with a not melted piece of cheese and a scoop of tomato sauce that tasted like it just came out of the can. Not very good but I did not ask to send it back to the kitchen. After I paid my bill a manager came by and asked me how my meal was and I told her. She apologized for the meal and asked me to wait while she went into the kitchen. She came back to my table and said she was just transferred to that location. She gave me a gift certificate and asked that I give the Olive Garden in Vacaville another try. Very nice of her but I think I will give her a couple of weeks to improve the food if that's possible. Not in a big hurry to go back.

I had the opportunity to eat here last week and frankly I was not impressed. The restaurant is very crowded in the front section and noisy. The dining room which is focused around the busy kitchen area was nice. Looked like 3 chefs working the line. The roasted beet salad was very good but the gnocchi was gummy and not good at all. The bread was stale. This was my 2nd time eating here in about 8 years. I will not return. A real disappointment.
