Back to nature, with excellent food
Reviewed By Thierry HI wish we had had the time to stay another night. Uruguayan hospitality at its best. Rustic lodge in the heart of nature. Friendly owners and staff, who make sure your stay is a memorable one. We opted to haver dinner and breakfast, and it was hugely copious. There was a lot of food, but it was so good and had been prepared with ingredients from the far that we fell compelled to eat it all. Affordable selection of wine too. Hyper relaxing!

Reviewed By diloo1What a strange place! After more than 11 hours traveling by car, we arrived in what looked like a private condominium with this simple hotel set in a small garden. The rooms were simple, it is like a 2 star hotel, with the dam and the river at walking distance. We are a family of 4 and had brought our bikes with us, which was a must. We rested, and rested, and this is exactly what we came for. To rest, to be, and to be pampered, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the staff wonderful with our boys. The lady of the house is very hard working and believes that whoever comes her way, if is for a good reason, and it is really the case! This is not a hotel for people who are looking for luxury, and superb views, or you will be sorely disappointed. It is for those who are looking for relaxation, and value human contacts. We slept like angels, swam in the river, went on bike rides in the rain, ate and drunk beautiful Uruguayan wines, and for 2 days felt very special and cared for. Gracias Sra Gloria, con tan buena alma, y Sr Samuel por su buen humor.

“Sencillez y tranquilidad fuera de la ciudad”
Reviewed By José DEl hotel está en las afueras de la ciudad, unos tres kilómetros al sur por ruta 5. Si bien queda sobre la ruta no tiene carteles y no es fácil de localizar. El huésped debe moverse por sus medios. El hotel combina adecuadas instalaciones con un parque sombreado ideal para descansar. Posee una piscina al aire libre que no estaba habilitada cuando fuimos. En el salón comedor, hay algunos juegos (ping pong, billar). El desayuno –no muy variado– es de autoservicio mediante los alimentos que quedan dispuestos en las heladeras. El personal es muy amable si se le consulta, aunque creemos que la filosofía del hotel es que el huésped se valga por sí mismo. En suma, es un hotel económico para quien busca descansar alejándose de la ciudad. A quien se aloja en este hotel se le facilita una visita al Museo Ford T City que vale la pena por su originalidad.

Expensive hotel with cheap behavior
Reviewed By ashutosh sWe were 9 expat visited San Gregorio de Polanco and choose to stay in this hotel which turned out to be very bad experience for us. We had spoken with owner over phone to do advance booking since the hotel room seemed sold out in booking.com. Sounds strange but he agreed to give us 3 rooms at a reasonable price and also agreed for a early check-in (11.30 am) n late check out ( 12.30 -1 pm) next day since we traveled from Montevideo. On day of arrival it looked different. We were asked to take 4 rooms instead of agreed 3 rooms saying that the extra room is free for us. But in reality we were charged for 3900 per room which is very high in comparison to normal rate for given rooms. Till now we were ok with it as it was a experience for us to stay in this hotel as it's very beautiful n located centrally in the city with essential commodities near by available. On day of check out we did see the change in the owner behavior from morning. We were spoken a bit rudely if we asked for any thing on breakfast. Main issue raised when we were asked to check out by 10 am rudely. We tried to remind politely that we had a deal with owner for a late checkout and please give us sometime as we have to pack the bags and shower accordingly. The owner showed rude behavior and didn't agree for it giving absurd reason for cleaning purpose. We had to rush pack and leave the rooms without shower for Montevideo. To be very honest we never this kind of dual and rudely behavior from any hotel/ hostel owners in Uruguay. We felt Racists behavior from owners also since other guests were given time and priority starting from breakfast service till check out timing. Highly NON recommended hotel.

Cheap option but depressing
Reviewed By MaskotasI have not staying in such a dilapidated hostel since my Peace Corps days in the 80s. But as it was New Years Eve, the drinking made it less unpleasant. The mattress was hard, the bedding ancient, the doors rotting away, and the shared bathroom very much in need of remodeling. My room made no air conditioning, just a fan. The owner, who lives on the premises, was very nice. The price charged, by Uruguayan standards, was low. But this is a depressing place to stay in a nice little lakeside town.

Reviewed By extendedrangerThe room was very large, had 2 beds. The bathroom is adequate in size, clean, hot water and has a separate door to the bedroom so you can block off the bathroom from the bedroom is desired, nice feature. Refrig., TV, free Wi-Fi, well secured with access from a rear slider to the back where your car is parked. Quiet. Restaurant on site. Breakfast in the morning at 6:30 (lobby), nice and early if you have to get moving. Nothing special but the coffee was good. Staff friendly.

Reviewed By GuillermoG540Ubicado en el predio de la antigua fábrica de agua tónica. Es muy prolijo y cuenta con 2 habitaciones muy originales montadas en un restaurado vagón de tren. Atención amabilísima y cordial, servicio de cafetería. TV satelital , WiFi gratis y estacionamiento cerrado (solo para 2 o 3 vehículos).
