I was in town to watch my child compete at the Robotics competition. So in the evening I was looking for something to do. I was pleasently surprised to see I was right by Playhouse Square. I was interested in Taming of the Shrew. I saw student pricing advertised but wasn't sure how it worked and what seats were like. I walked to the ticket office where they were very kind and friendly. I then quickly found myself down the block at the Hanna Theater. 1. Student pricing was amazing. I showed my student ID and paid $13 for my last minute ticket. 2. HANNA Theater is a small, very intimate venue. I don't think there would be any bad seat in there. 3. SEATS ON THE STAGE: see the picture. Those are actual audience members sitting on the stage. It's a fun idea but I personally would find it awkward. FYI on the diagram they looked like they were kind of backstage seats. So I just wanted to let ppl know they are directly on the stage. 4. Cute little concession stand in the front lobby. Nice small bar right inside the theater. 5. The quality of the actors and production were amazing. I loved the show. Had an amazing time. Would do this again for sure if I lived closer!

Allen Theatre

Cleveland Playhouse productions are often staged in the Allen Theatre. This space was made significantly smaller when the theatre was reconfigured a number of years ago and is a stellar performance space, in my opinion. I love sitting in the front row of the balcony as you have a superb view of the entire stage.

Outcalt Theatre

Reviewed By WHMeg - Willoughby Hills, United States

Cleveland Play House productions sometimes are in the Outcalt Theatre, a more intimate black box space that can be arranged in any number of configurations. I always am excited when the directors and set designers decide to have a performance in that space as the possibilities for stage configurations are endless! Add lifts, adjustable lighting, projections... well, you can imagine the results! Don't shy away from performances in the Outcalt just because they aren't in the Allen. Do, however, speak with an usher or with the box office beforehand if you have mobility issues as they may want to seat you in specific areas.

Connor Palace

Reviewed By SandyK31784 - Marblehead, United States

It goes without saying that the Connor Palace is a beautiful old theatre and a great place to see a show. Our seats were pretty far back on the main floor, but the view was still very good. The ushers are very helpful in finding seats, restrooms, etc. But I want to give a special shout-out today to the box office and security folks who helped me recover my lost credit card. I dropped it while in my seat; I didn't realize until we were headed home. I called and got a recording at first, stating that the box office was closed. But when I pressed the key for the box office, I got a human -- Julie. She was very kind and helpful, said she would go to the security folks and look for my card. She called back in less than an hour and had found my card. It was waiting at the box office when I returned, and I was in and out in a minute or two. Thank you, Julie, and all the staff at the Connor Palace and Playhouse Square for helping me!
