The first restaurant that opened its doors in our capital was Happy Budapest. The restaurant operates from 28th May 2000, and has since pleased its clients with unique Happy specialties, among which authentic Japanese sushi, prepared by our sushi chef. In
First of all, best tzatziki I have found outside of Greece. Second, it was a mess. Huge menu, you can get greek, burgers, sushi, I think if you asked the chef for spaghetti he could make you some, so if you need a place to eat with picky eaters, go here. Then the issue, you will not get your meals at the same time. My partner got his gyros first and he was our victim, as we started picking from his plate while we waited. By the time the second dish came (a burger) his plate was empty so we ordered another burger for him. Then my dish came, and then the second burger. The time in between was way too long. Now with the prices in Bulgaria I don't mind ordering 4 main courses for 3 people, but the besides that we picked from his plate, the portions were small for Bulgarian standards. Normally I am overwhelmed by their lack of portion control, but here it is very safe to get a 3 course meal. So in the end it was nice, but there are way better places to eat in Sofia.Thank you for your words, your opinion is very important to us. It is the thing that makes us continue to be ever so good at what we do. Regarding the non-positive comment from your side, we would like to send you our sincere apologies and to assure you that we will do the best tо adjust ourselves in the shortest time. Best regards, Happy Bar & Grill

The Restaurant Hadjidraganovite Izbi that means "Hadjidraganov's Cellars" offers Bulgarian national cuisine on fire, on a hot plate and in an oven. Situated in the center of Sofia restaurant exposes unique atmosphere of an old cellar - all hand-maded. A b
We were in the cellar which, yes, is touristy but the tourists are from all over Europe, which was fun. It's cosy and friendly and service is good. Dishes were tasty, spicy and huge. Lamb kebabs very tender, vegetables imaginatively cooked. Too full for dessert, alas. If you prefer some peace you can go at 19.30 and be finished before the band gets into full swing.

We end up at this restaurant recommended by our walking tour guide. What a fantastic evening we had! The setting is beautiful in a quiet area. The restaurant had such a beautiful traditional character. Service was perfect and very friendly and the waiter could explain what we wanted to know about the dishes. We had stuffed vine leaves for starters. The best ones I had for the two weeks in Bulgaria and Turkey. The mains were really excellent and so were the Bulgarian wines we had. Highly recommendable. Will visit again.

This is a typical Bulgarian restaurant with the most delicious specialties like a "kavarma", "pita", "shopska salad", "banitsa", "stomna kebap" and many many others. You can try also Bulgarian "rakia", different Bulgarian wines from the best Bulgarian wineries as you can dance and sing together with the actors from the live performance. The restaurant's location is amazing - it is at the foot of Vitosha mountain, fresh air, traditional atmosphere and live music every evening with program, Bulgarian dances and the end of the program is fabulous with the " Nestinar dances". These dances are top of the top of the folklore program and there are not so many places in the world where you can see people to dance over a charcoal in fire. All my friends from abroad who saw this miracle can not believe that it is true. You have to see this with your own eyes.I recommend to visit and to try the most delicious traditional Bulgarian food and drinks in Vodenitzata restaurant in Sofia.

The menu in Avtentichno is small but everything is fresh. Had fried yellow cheese sticks for starters and beef meatballs as a main. Everything tasted delicious, was very happy. Service was also surprisingly (For Bulgaria) excellent, real effort to communicate in English and seemed genuinely happy to see you. Very warm welcome. Will definitely be back, especially with the quality and the prices they offer.
