Top 9 Asian food in La Paz, La Paz Department, Bolivia

Reviews on Asian food in La Paz, La Paz Department, Bolivia. Sitting in a valley in the Andes Mountains, La Paz is the city that touches the clouds. The de facto capital of Bolivia, and sitting between 3300 and 4100 meters above sea level, La Paz is the highest capital city in the world. Rich with 19th century churches, museums of artifacts from the pre-Conquest era, precarious overlooks, and colorful markets, La Paz is truly unique. The Witches’ Market, in the center of the city, sells charms and potions for Aymara rituals, as well as souvenirs.

After traveling in Bolivia for 6 weeks I had been looking forward to finding some Sushi in La Paz, Of the quite few options i went for Furusato. From first arriving I was greeted by a friendly parking attendant. The restaurant is very nicely done Japanese style. And the Sushi did not disappoint. I pigged out on a very large amount of Sushi for one person, but it was a pleasure polishing it all off. Nice little touches you don't find in Sushi restaurants in South America such as non-disposable Chopsticks on their own holder. A warm towel and tea when you arrive. If you are looking for a great Sushi experience in La Paz give Furusato a go!

We were in La Paz, Bolivia making a series of restaurant consultancies and openings around the area of Calacoto. As lovers of Sushi, my wife and I, we came across New Tokyo Restaurant. We were absolutely impressed of the service, efficiency, cleanliness, decor and food of course. We highly recommend New Tokyo to all the Sushi lovers and Asian cuisine connoisseurs.Specially in a country like Bolivia where HACCP standards and cleanliness is hard to come bye in most restaurants....New Tokyo stands out as an example of the contrary; with true international standards. Try it!!!

On the occasion of celebrating an anniversary, we went to this restaurant. The service was very attentive and warm. The food was very well prepared and presented. The food we ordered was very tasty, with great combination of flavors and aromas. The place is quiet, but not for a romantic evening. It's a bit pricey, but an interesting place to meet and vary.

We stumbled upon this little, hidden gem ToGa by surprise and had an amazing evening with friends. The kitchen surprised us with a fantastic mix of appetizers, ranging from Dumplings to avocado ice cream. Simply delicious!!The Argentinian chef has worked all over the world, from Spain over Mauritius to South Africa and you taste it in his creations. The quality of the food and it’s arrangements can, without a doubt,be compared with star cooking. Really wonderful!

I rarely write negative reviews of restaurants, because any establishment can have an off night: it seems harsh and even unfair to criticize a business for one dish, one interaction, etc. However, since virtually every aspect of my experience at Delhi Curry Lounge was poor, I will break my typical rule.Delhi Curry Lounge is located in the third floor of a run-down building slightly off La Paz's tourism strip. They've attempted to apply a veneer of wood and brick to the concrete but it's not helping much. The building is uninviting, which wouldn't matter much if everything else was fantastic, but unfortunately seems of a pattern. The food was mediocre at best, and I say that as someone who goes to Indian restaurants in virtually every city he travels to. I'm not expecting London or Mumbai -- but this was worse than I'd expect in Little Rock. Even Chicken Tikka Masala, pretty much an un-screw-up-able dish, was weak and not very flavorful. The cucumber raita was the only thing we ordered that didn't disappoint. And speaking of ordering, the service was very poor. Though not ill-intentioned, our waiter was borderline incompetent. We ordered llama korma and got llama vindaloo, ordered garlic naan and got plain naan, ordered cucumber raita and didn't get it until we ordered again. Then we were charged for a mango lassi on our bill that the adjacent table had ordered. I can't remember the last time that we had such problems with a meal.In summary, this was a run-down establishment with bad food and poor service. I don't mean them any ill will, but since the restaurant is highly reviewed on Tripadvisor, I would like to serve as a counterpoint. Even if you're craving some curry: stay away.

One could easily mistake this mini sushi bar for an easy-to-miss average food stall; however, it is a surprisingly delicious experience in the Zona Sur of La Paz. Fresh and finely selected ingredients, flavorful taste combinations, meticulous preparation and friendly yet efficient attention combine to make this a standout, and perhaps the best sushi experience a diner can have in Bolivia. Rolls are prepared on the spot in the small kitchen/bar area, so do expect to wait..... but so very worth it!
