We visited with 2 children (3 and 7) and were hosted for the visit by Victor. Having booked the tour by email at 1730 the night before the visit, we were pleasantly surprised that there was only us and another group of 2. The visit cost 12€ (Free for kids) and included a walk through the bodegas with an excellent description of how the different types of sherries are made and how they all differ in taste. It also included tasting 5 different sherries, 2 straight from the cask, which was a real novelty. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sanlúcar. Thank you to Victor for being such a great host.

Covered by the Denominaciones de Origen "Jerez-Xeres-Sherry" and "Manzanilla de Sanlucar de Barrameda", "La Cigarrera" is a wine cellar of aging and shipment where the traditional rules employed during the process of making and aging of its wines are applied rigorously. We offer guided tours in English at 11:00 from Mondays to Fridays, and it is included a tasting with 3 wines. Special discounts for groups of more than 20 people. About 10 minute walk from the main square (all uphill!), easy to find and open over Christmas. The English tour was at 11am, about an hour, really informative and the tour brings you into the storage area with all the barrels where there is a wonderful smell of sherry. They also make wine and sparkling wine and as my wife isn’t a sherry drinker she was delighted that these were at the tasting at the end too. Large gift shop with all their bottles available to buy but unfortunately with the 100ml flying restrictions we couldn’t buy any. We’ve done wine tasting tours all around the world and a €10 charge per person is certainly the most expensive we’ve ever come across.
