The ancient Synagogue of Valeria (Veria) is located in what was the Jewish Quarter of the city. Around it you can see several other old renovated and preserved houses some still bear inscriptions in Hebrew such as "If I forget the Jerusalem - I will forget my right hand".
But the Synagogue is still standing, and was beautifully renovated and restored in the last few years, and its serves as a memorial for those who perished and for the flourish Jewish community that once lived here.
A visit to this hidden gem is highly recommended even if you are not Jewish.

This museum is located in a refurbished flour mill which was destroyed by fire. An informative video shows the history of the mill and the surrounding area.
The museum has a fine collection of icons and has a modern, well displayed collection of artefacts.
But - and it's a big but - you are not allowed to take photos. There was far too much information to be taken in on a single visit and I would have liked to photo the explanation panels and read them at my leisure. If there had been a decent guide book of the museum this might have been a good alternative.
As it was, we were stalked by an attendant who followed us from room to room - rather off-putting.

The Royal Tombs of King Philippos father of Alexander the Great
as well as the other two Tombs are something extraordinary.The Tombs and their contains are well preserved and excibited.An excellent representation of a part of the ancient Greek history.
The location signs and the area surrounding the museum need improvement.

The Book of Acts Chapter 17:10 describes how the Apostle Paul left Thessaloniki and visited the nearby town of Berea (Veroia).
The town of Veroia has built a small park and altar to mark the traditional location the Apostle Paul spoke from during his visit.
The park is accessed via a set of steps and then consists of a small level plaza with the altar to the front and statues on either side.
Parking to visit the altar is extremely limited. We parked a few blocks away (by the mosque) and then walked to the altar.
For a person with an interest in Biblical sights, this is a must see in Berea (Veroia).

Ωραιο μαγαζί στο κέντρο της πόλης σε πεζόδρομο! Μεγάλος χώρος με τραπέζια εξω,μικρός ομως μεσα,παρα τους δυο ορόφους. Ποικιλία απο ροφήματα και ποτά!

Ότι και αν ειπωθεί για την Ιερά Μονή Δοβρά είναι λίγο.
Κάποτε λειτουργούσε η Παιδοπολη εκεί. Εκεί φιλοξενούνταν τα εγκαταλελειμμένα παιδάκια. Φρόντιζαν παιδαγωγοι για την ανατροφή τους.
Πλέον εδώ και πάνω από 30 χρόνια λειτουργει πλέον σαν Μονή.
Επίγειο παράδεισο θα τον έλεγε κάποιος. Όλα κυλούν αρμονικά.
Η παλιά εκκλησία είναι πανέμορφη. Πολλές τελετές λαμβάνουν χώρα εκεί.
Εδώ και κάποια χρόνια κατασκευάζεται και ο καινούργιος μεγάλος ναός. Ο Ι.Ν Αγίου Λουκά.
Ευχής έργον θα ήταν να ολοκληρωθεί σε λίγα χρόνια και να λειτουργήσει ο ναός.

Το μοναστήρι αυτό ιδρύθηκε από τον Γέροντα Παύλο της Σκήτης της Αγίας Τριάδας, κοντά στο Κουτλουμούσι στο Άγιο Όρος και επανδρώνεται από 11 μοναχές, οι περισσότερες νεαρής ηλικίας. Η ηγουμένη ονομάζεται Χριστοδούλη.
Η παραμονή μου εκεί ήτανε μία αξέχαστη πνευματική εμπειρία.
Στην Κυριακάτικη πρωϊνή λειτουργία παρευρέθηκαν αρκετοί πιστοί από την Μακεδονία (Θεσσαλονίκη, Βέροια και λοιπές γύρω περιοχές) αλλά και προσκυνητές από την Κύπρο.
Η μονή κτίστηκε στα ερείπια μονής που ιδρύθηκε πριν 4-5 αιώνες και που εγκαταλείφθηκε το 1955. Προστέθηκε νέα οικοδομή που στεγάζει το Αρχονταρίκι, αλλά και τους ξενώνες ανδρών και γυναικών, που βρίσκονται εκτός της Μονής.
Η μονή είναι κλειστή κάθε Τετάρτη και Παρασκευή, τις δε άλλες μέρες κλείνει απο τις 1-5μμ.
Το πνευματικό "κέρδος" σε αγαλίαση και πενυματική ανύψωση είναι μεγάλο.
Η μονή βρίσκεται στο βουνό, κοντά στο χωριό Παλιατίτσα και ο δρόμος στα τελευταία 4,5 χιλιόμετρα είναι χωμάτινος.
Μία επίσκεψη στην Μονή αυτή είναι εξ΄ ίσου οφέλιμη ως και στο Άγιο Όρος, κυριώς διότι το Άγιο Όρος είναι άβατον.
