My wife is a bit of a wine snob (heh, heh), with a strong penchant for dry reds. Living in East Tennessee, most wineries in this region specialize in sweet wines, particularly Muscadine or wine made from various berries and fruits (blueberry, blackberry, peach, etc.). Dry whites or reds are difficult to find in this area.
The Winery at Seven Springs Farm is typical for East Tennessee in that the "sweet wines" are their specialty. Indeed, they only had one dry wine on their menu (a dry red) and it was uninspiring. That's OK, as dry wines are clearly not their specialty. I opted for the full wine tasting, which included ten or so different sweet and fruit wines, as well as a wine "slushy." I'm not as "drier is better" inclined as my wife, so I did enjoy a few of the sweet wines. The best, however, was actually the slushy, which was sweet and tasty.
The young man offering the tasting was friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him. Unfortunately, he didn't seem very knowledgeable about the wines themselves, which was a bit disappointing as it is always fun to learn about how the wines are made and hear stories about them.
I will say that the winery has a nice store offering a wide variety of cheeses, meats, sausages and gift items.
I am certainly happy to see more wineries appearing in our region, and realize that the sweet wines they produce seem to be what most locals prefer. I just wish more of the local wineries would produce quality dry wines. The only one I've found so far in our area is Spout Springs Estate Winery.

Big Ridge suited our family's needs just fine. We stayed at campsite 21. I liked it better than others because we didn't have any immediate neighbors to our left, had water access, and water and electric hookups. There is a designated swimming area that we visited quite a bit that the kids enjoyed. The lake is beautiful and really a nice place to camp. Be prepared though because some places are pretty trashed out and a lot of smokers and cigarette butts about the place. This area of Tennessee is very.....ahem 'country.' We are from Houston and, when we first arrived and saw some of the swimming hole patrons, I have to admit I was a bit concerned about staying there for a week. It turned out just fine and everyone we camped near was quite polite. I think the park is understaffed - I only saw the park ranger maybe three times during our week-long stay. The bath houses are dirty and buggy and it's the luck of the draw whether you'll get a shower with hot water or one that even works. The workers there obviously aren't into cleaning anything or keeping the restrooms properly stocked with supplies. It is sad to me that Tennessee is so dirty. It is such a beautiful place...such a shame that people can be so ignorant. The park, in my opinion, could do a much better job of providing trash receptacles for its patrons. Literally, one dumpster for the whole park and none readily accessible at the swimming beach. People aren't going to go hunting for them.

The cabin was nice and clean and quiet. The satellite tv worked well. Our hottub was plugged in and warm and ready when we got in. We couldn't fully enjoy it though because there were some large wasps flying near us. I realize that we were in a forested area. But we were concerned if there was a nest near by. The view was amazing. We were here for a family wedding. A good experience but we would be leery to use the hottub if we visited again.

From the moment we walked through the door, the irrepressible Wanda Byerley took us under her wing. She helped us find information about our ancestors, while keeping us in stitches with her tales of local history. On the second floor, there are a number of exhibits related to country music, including Roy Acuff's fiddle.

We drove up for the afternoon. The roads leading to the parking area were a little creepy. I'm sure the place is fine and it is a beautiful location, but we did not stay long.
