This is a must do for all the citizens of Illinois! An amazing park! The lodge should be a national icon! The restaurant within the lodge is absolutely the best! Their all you can eat chicken dinner is the best! We stayed in the historic cabins. While the decor is still 90s I didn’t mind at all! It gave it that hone to camp feel and I was very pleased! You have to stop at the visitor center and meet the snake and turtle! I was very happy to see them there and that the park employees were educating the public that black rat snakes are not the devil that most think they are! Giant City Trail! Just do it! Come here, stay here come back again and again. I’m very sad I live in Kentucky and that it will be a while before I can visit again. I’m proud to say that my great great grandpa was from Anna which is very close to the park and Makanda! Gives me an excuse to come back!

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Sky Suite For two nights and we absolutely loved it! The surrounding is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. There is a stunning pond and so Much outdoor seating. Our check in was so easy and our concierge Grace was so kind and helpful. All the staff at Blue Sky is so helpful and goes above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. We drove almost five hours and didn’t really know what to expect but our experience was beyond wonderful. The wine is just exceptional and so is the service from the staff. The food is really good too; we really enjoyed their pizza and chocolate cake. Our room was so cute and very clean. It comes with a small fridge, microwave, tv and WiFi. You can choose either breakfast or a free bottle of wine. We even bought some of their shirts and souvenirs. It is an amazing place for a couples getaway. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you Blue Sky!!

Feather Hills Vineyard & Winery began its roots in 1988 when their first vines were planted. Over two decades later the grapes are still flourishing. Feather Hills is located on one of southern Illinois' highest ridge tops, deep in the heart of the Shawnee Hills A.V.A. After years of practice and experimentation in wine making, Feather Hills began releasing wines to the the public in 2001 as Orlandini Vineyard. The property changed hands to the Feathers in 2017 and changed names in 2018. The same values and wines continue with novices and connoisseurs enjoying our hand tended vintages.

This team of six siblings has now completed the Shawnee Forest Wine Trail. Yep. We've visited every one. (It took us two weekends.) Feather Hills was the winery that had something everyone liked~~~and several somethings several of us liked! At the end of the day of hiking and wineries, we even went back for one more glass at Feather Hill before heading home. We enjoyed watching the sunset and playing their corn hole game. The staff is delightful, very hospitable, and knowledgeable.
