Mary Jane Thurston State Park

We were driving through Ohio en route to Wisconsin, and stayed at this I-80 friendly (close proximity) campground. Our site was one of the two that were occupied in the tent section, and that made the evening all the more enjoyable.

Our fire ring had a backdrop of the lake/river - I make this distinction, as it is a river, but there is a small dam (~10 ft. high), about a hundred or so feet down from the campground, that creates a small "lake".

The only complaint that I have is that the sanitary facilities are a bit underwhelming; however, for the price and tranquility, it is a minor gripe.

You can visit the park many, many times and still find something new to see and do! I live close by and visit often, but never ceased to be amazed at the new places within it and the new rare species which exist. From the sand dunes to the bike trails to Tornado Alley to Mallard Lake, there are so many different habitats to explore in one trip or many. So many rare things to appreciate! Truly the best of the Toledo Area MetroParks!

Nice small park, beautiful lodge and kids playground. Lots of parking and sits right on the Maumee River where you can go down to the water. Clean grounds and rest rooms. Not that expensive to rent and there is a carry out right across the street in case you forget something.

First of all this place is not in Michigan and it's in Ohio. It seems like a nice place and they seem to have good entertainment. The wines and the beers are so so. Not all that impressive. The bathrooms were nice. Don't order the cheese and crackers.
