Top 8 Things to do Good for Adrenaline Seekers in Bilbao, Basque Country

November 17, 2021 Tonie Szymanski

Travelers generally come to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim—some for the art inside, but many for the amazing building itself. The Fine Arts Museum and the Basque Museum may not have been designed by Frank Gehry, but are worth a visit, and you can catch international opera stars at the Palacio Euskalduna.

San Mames Stadium

Reviewed By passionfruitsin

La Liga has always been my favourite football leaque in Europe and when I saw this beautiful structure from the opposite bank of the Nervion River, I told my wife that we need to make our way there. Along the way, we got to talk to a local. He is a diehard fan of the local team Athletic Babao. To him it is the best team in the leaque as the leaque leaders have more International players than local boys. On arriving at the stadium, the 1st thing that struck me was the giant video screen running shorts on the team's stars and achievements. The facade of the stadium was just as beautiful, cover by honeycomb shells in white. There was a private event on and no visits were allow. I managed to persuade the kind person at the gate to allow me inside to have a peep at the interior of this magnificent arena. He gracefully agreed and I was overjoyed. The all seated stadium has a covered roof. The reason it is also called La Cathedral is because it is build on the site of a previous cathedral. But it is indeed a cathedral to the 50 000 fans that come to support this 105 year old club every game they play here. Certainly worth a visit.
