Leilani Farm Sanctuary

Reservations are required. $40 per person tax-deductible donation (for adults and kids). Minimum age for visitors is seven years old. Home to goats, turkeys, rabbits, donkeys, cats, geese, pigs, tortoises, guinea pigs, ducks, deer, chickens, a cow and a dog, Leilani Farm Sanctuary is located on a lush 8-acre farm in Haiku, Maui. It is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization created to provide shelter and care for rescued animals, and humane education to the community. On the outer, most visible level, Leilani Farm Sanctuary lives and breathes upon a unique piece of rolling land, eight volcanic acres on a green Pacific island. But its superb location and jaw-dropping natural beauty are but reflections of its lush inner essence. The sanctuary is truly a paradise for animals and humans alike.

I came upon this tour by chance. I’m so glad I did! LauraLee is an amazing host and her love and care of the rescued animals shows. Her Sanctuary is a paradise. It’s fun to get up and close with the animals! Make sure to hug the turkey!!

Nahiku Viewpoint

Reviewed By warreno966

This is a beautiful lushly green area with outstanding coastline views at the end. The 2-3 mile road down is mostly one lane, but with far less traffic then the Hana road and should be no problem. Park at the church (unless there are services), the road is closed at a bridge just beyond. It's an easy walk down the pavement from there to the overlook, but don't miss the deep pool and small waterfall halfway down, good for a swim if the stream isn't flowing fast. The overlook has beautiful views of the wild and rugged coast. You can make this side trip in less than an hour and it's well worth it.

Coconut Information Farm

Aloha! We are a family farm specializing in coconuts. We've been teaching coconut information workshops on Maui since 2011. Guests get a chance to open & taste coconuts of all different ages. We have cooking classes and every guest leaves full of knowledge & healthy local food.

Who knew a coconut was such a magical, sustainable fruit? We learned so much about coconuts on this tour. Everyone had an awesome experience (2, 4, 6, 38, 39 years old - fun for all ages!) It was great to explore a new area of Maui. Ryan's farm is so beautiful and he has such a great story. We all enjoyed tasting the different ages of coconut, learning how to make coconut noodles and milk and eating out of coconut husk bowls. Highly recommend!

Hale Akua Garden Farm

You'll start this experience by going on a short walk to Hale Akua Garden Farm in our lush beautiful farming gardens (for 15 minutes). This is a great way for you to see the beauty that surrounds us here in this jungle paradise! Then you will begin your activity and will be provided with the palm leaves, learn how to weave and leave with an authentic jungle hat of your own. The hat making materials will come preprepared for you (leaves cut), however you will get a demonstration for how to prep the materials from start to finish. We will be using coconut fronds (palm leaves) to make the Hawaiian Islander hats. Then we will be making and weaving our hats that we can take back home with us! What a conversation piece! And a durable one at that! Your own islander hat made by you in Maui!
